📖 [Rolife Journey] The Titanic Journey 3-4-5/15: Showcase Room and some hull

Aaaand the Titanic is slowly growing! Usually I don’t build during the weekends but my girlfriend is sick! Nothing to worry about, but there’s a strong flu epidemic around Spain and she’s got it, so this weekend I was basically a nurse. I had plenty of time to spend at home with her (and wearing my mask so I won’t fall as well) to watch Stranger Things and… Well, keep building my Titanic through the weekend, one little step a day!

Step 3 is the shortest so far and it basically means the first pieces of the showcase room. Nothing too complicated!

Step 4 is a bit longer, you basically finish the floor furniture of it and then fit it into the main structure of the Titanic! The craft of the showcase room doesn’t really compare to what I’ve seen you guys post in the Miniature Houses builds; it mainly consists on small parts combined with little paper pieces you have to stick to wooden pieces through those tiny double sided stickers.

The one thing that bothers me here is that I’m feeling that there’s something wrong with the main structure of my Titanic, or the pieces I’ve built through it; as you can see, the long red piece on the right side below the showcase room doesn’t properly align with the other one, and it kind of gives a sense of that side of the ship being a bit… Crooked, maybe? It doesn’t seem like it’s gonna be a big issue moving forward, but I would love some tip or comment here if you may, @Robotime!

Last but not least, Step 5 comes with two “parts”. Through the first one you’ll finish the showcase room by preparing the walls of it and fit them into the main structure, completing the visualization, which really catches the eye with those tiny details!

Yeah, here you can notice even closer the “crooked” thing in the long red piece that is bothering me

Anyway. The second “part” of Step 5 basically moves forward with the build of the stern of the ship! You’ll add a couple of reinforcement pieces and start building the hull.

I don’t like the wires hanging around hahaha but it’s a temporary thing!

What do you think? It’s looking good so far, despite of the minor (hopefully) issues! You’ll have more news about this one tomorrow, I’m trying to build it on a daily basis :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Love the detailed update as usual! I really love the room, the wallpaper and all the little details! :star_struck:

I don’t really think it’s that crooked but again I’ve never built this so I’m not sure? Maybe some parts are flipped?

I hope your girlfriend has a speedy recovery!

Thank you! It really looks nice and detailed, right? I’m loving every step of the way

Not sure why that happened, but hopefully it won’t make a difference in the further steps of the build. Fingers crossed!

Thanks a lot for your words!

Looks gorgeous! Very happy that you had a time to build during the weekend, just sad hearing about your girlfriend. Hope she will be better soon :people_hugging: Lots of health.

Love the details, and looks very intricate. Do you find it easier or harder than the Seahorse Barque Ship? Also does it come with Jack and Rose? lol

Uhm, interesting question! I can’t give you a proper answer yet since I’m not even half the way, but I’m finding it… Just a little bit easier, maybe? I think the skeleton and hull of the Seahorse were more intricate. Also the Titanic won’t have the sails and mats, although it’ll also come with many details on deck, a cord I’ll have to do something with, the chimneys and other things a pirate ship won’t have! So we’ll see :stuck_out_tongue:

Also the Seahorse was my first kit ever and I’ve come through another three builds before the Titanic, so experience is finding its way as well.

But… I’m afraid to tell you that I’ll have to create my own Jack and Rose! Maybe on bow during that iconic scene everyone wants to recreate?

@TheToday I definitely need to get me one of these ships!!! They’re so intriguing and I need a kit that takes longer to build aahahah

Can’t wait to see these two…

Would be nice if you also find space for this Diva somewhere… near, far, wherever with the ship.

Ahahahahaha good ones! I’ll do my best to bring the three of them on board once I’m done with the build itself :stuck_out_tongue:

And regarding which ship to choose… I’d go for both of them lol. But if you only want one it really depends on what you prefer. The Titanic is more classic, is a historical thing, while the Seahorse is a completely different design (and I consider that kind of ship more… Gorgeous?). It’s a matter of personal taste in the end!

Do you need to paint anything? I am thinking I may touch up a few pieces. I cannot open mine until Christmas! :face_with_peeking_eye:

I’m not really eager to paint anything at all in my kits

But I’m curious now, what would you paint and how and why?

I guess I will know more when I see it. I would want the ship itself to look shiny. I think since the room would be for the wealthy, I would want that to be sparkling too. But I cant look yet so I dont know. I love seeing your process though and think that will really help.

Noticed! I like your ideas. Can’t wait for Christmas to finish so I can start following your own updates and customization!

You’re doing really well. I cam understand the irritation with the piece not beeing straight. I had the same problem with the seahorse but as the planks are black you don’t notice it as well.

You did a great job so far :star_struck: Maybe the crooked part is upside down? Can you turn it?

That is what I was wondering. I have the kit but cannot open it til Christmas!

OMG yes!

@Jerry_Boswijk and I were just discussing this!

Good to know, thanks! Now that you mention it, I remember having a similar issue at some point in the Seahorse and it didn’t end up being that big of an issue.
