The Titanic Journey 6/15: Stern Lower Deck

[ Previously… Unboxing - 1 Base - 2 Skeleton - 3-4-5 Showcase and hull ]

Man! I couldn’t wait to post this one. It may look like a small step from the last one, but… It’s pretty tricky to fit all those tiny little fragile parts together and through the holes in the base part prepared for it! I was expecting it to be a short process but it took me almost an hour, mainly because my fingers are not exactly thin.

I also have no idea if I’m bringing the ship parts correctly in the titles lol. But Google is my teacher, so you can give them your complaints

I don’t really have a lot to say here, but I was almost sweating (and believe, it’s preeeetty cold right now). The crafting of this first deck (which I called “lower deck” because I’ve seen through the instructions and the promotional pictures on the box that there are higher ones) is tricky, but the trickiness of it is mainly coming from the tiny little fragile parts. Some of them can break by looking at them! So be aware on which point are you pressuring and try not to do it right over where the windows are. Guess who was blind enough to do precisely that? You may notice I’ve already torn apart the small section of wall above one of the two tiny… What are those, portholes? I guess so, even if one of them has already hit the iceberg  I believe that specific part is gonna be partially hidden, but I’ll think of how to fix it or patch it anyway since it’s kind of bugging me. Ideas from anyone are appreciated! :hugs:

The thing is that I’ve seen there are many other deck areas I’ll have to build in a similar way, and it’s getting tricky with these fingers, I’m slightly worried about that. Maybe that’s a sign? Is it time for me to get some of those modeling tweezers?

Oh, and now that I look at the pictures… Sanding is coming! :factory_worker:

Please stop staring at them they’re shy and will run away. In all honesty I think you’re doing a marvellous job with all the itty bitty parts. And yes, I think it’s time you get a tweezer and join us! Also couldn’t really tell what you broke so it’s not that obvious!

I thought I was the only one who gets hot when I am crafting.

It is important to watch your alignment carefully. I turn the pieces the exact direction the instructions show when I am assembling a tricky area.

I think it’s coming along nicely and you will be successful.

Oh yeah, you have no idea. And this is nothing compared to the tiny parts that are coming  I won’t get bored the following couple of weeks!

That I’ve checked! And everything seems properly align, so I’m not sure where the issue may be. Either way I’m not 100% worried, I’m confident it won’t affect further building.

So glad it worked out in the end! Those tiny wrapped goods look adorable, and that little book is just precious. Amazing progress, even after such a long day!

Yes to tweezers and yes keep sharing! My turn is coming and looking at everything I am a bit nervous. Sand, wax, and time will be my friend

You know once you set hands on a tweezer you’re obliged to start making those little houses.

On the other hand, I might be starting my first ROKR soon so watch me struggle, I hope not.

I prefer needle nose pliers over tweezers anyway. Most everything I try to grab with tweezers pops out and flies across the room…never to be seen again…LOL! Have fun sanding.

Today I had to get on the ground and find a tulip that flew. I also found a few beads, the tulip, and some wire (thank you tweezers!) I have both nearby because yes, they do fly.

That’s exactly why I prefer the small needle nose pliers.

You’ve done well so far. The small parts do seem tricky to assemble, but even with your big fingers, you managed it . I can’t see any broken parts, so you’ve done well! It’s nice to see the ship taking shape more and more. I’m really looking forward to your next update.
