5-6: The first wall is joining the party
So… Where the heck was Eloy these past few days? Maybe he was hiding inside Artemis II flying to the moon? That would explain it!

That would also have me eager to build the Space Shuttle though. That one will be mine, that’s for sure! Sooner or later.
So… Was I hiding from you guys on the moon, then?

Naaah. It was a much chilly and family kind of trip in my case ![]()
That basically involved lots of picnics…
Lots of diet-is-not-with-us moments…
Enjoying the fact that warm weather is FINALLY deciding to join us…
And obviously enjoying some well deserved torrijas!
What are torrijas, you say? Oh, just like we have the Roscón de Reyes for Christmas (that amazing Three Kings Cake usually filled with whipped cream) we have Torrijas for Easter. It seems like diet doesn’t exist every time something happens to Jesus lol.

Well then, let’s move on to the finish line of my Romantic Venice Book Nook, shall we? Since I wanted to finish it before the Easter break but I sadly didn’t have enough time for it.
There wasn’t much left to do though! This is how we left it last time, everything was put together mostly, but without some of the covers and with all the wiring loose:
Let’s see then! First I had to put together the front cover. It’s a nice and smooth one!
Those columns kind of remind me of the Hercules animated classic from Disney?

Oh man. The music from that movie is something different.

Moving on
here comes the top cover! It comes with a plastic part that makes the purpose of a top dust cover for the open spaces, so we can look at Venice from top:
Feeling like a bird now, are we? Careful now, don’t get too distracted by the beautiful Book Nook views!

Ouch. I hope you’re okay.
Okay! Now it’s time to do the wire mumbo jumbo, which is how I like to call all the remove the wire covers of each colour and twist them together process we all Rolife lovers are kind of used to.

As you can see, each twist of wires gets cover in its own protective black tape, and then we’re sticking the wires to the base so they won’t go jumping out there like if it’s Saturday night.
Oh, and that part you can see on the right by the end of the wires is the touch sensor!
So in order to test it I was supposed to open the battery box and put some batteries instead. See? I’m smart!

Well, maybe not as much as I thought. I was trying to open it with the screwdriver, but… Why was it that hard? Was I doing something wrong? Maybe the screwdriver was having a bad day?
Oh, no. It was me, obviously. I finally found out I’ve fit the battery box the wrong way… So the lid was on the opposite way. Oops. So… What? Was I supposed to unbuild half of this in order to turn it around? Leave it like that and have Venice with no lights at all?

Gladly enough it was much easier than that! As soon as I removed the back cover of the Nook here it was the battery box, allowing me to carefuly remove it, turn it around and place it correctly this time.

What’s wrong with me and battery boxes? I always mess them up somehow.
At least I’m always able to properly fix it eventually! Nice, nice. Better late than ever.
So… This is it! After fixing the battery box position, everything was basically done. YAY! And it’s beauuuuutiful.

This is it with the lights on:
This is what you can see from that side door:
And that’s your view if you’re a bird:
So this is it, folks! My Romantic Venice Book Nook is finally finished. I love how it looks and how nice everything works together! Even if the Theatre sign is a bit crooked due to my almost-breaking it. Oops.
My only complaint about this is the touch sensor for turning the lights on and off though. Since it’s placed right under it and the bottom part with the wires is open, it’s pretty easy to accidentally touch it from behind when moving or holding the Nook. Nothing too important though.
Thank you for following along as usual!

What now?
Well, I’m pretty excited actually. My first ever Meetup Event is coming THIS VERY SATURDAY! Five days to go LOL! So my next build will be the last one I’m doing for that meetup, the Wooden Flower Basket. I wanna have all of them ready so I can bring them as a showcase for the people to see what they’ll be building ![]()
See you/read you around!
