My spare part story is a bit hilarious. I was building a kit recently and there was a very difficult piece placement where the wooden pieces had slots and had to be folded. I was sure I’ll break it, and I did I thought breaking this piece is surely now going to hinder my build for weeks. I started putting everything back into the box and VOILA there it was A SPARE PIECE the sheet had a spare piece that I had not noticed. I was soooo happy to complete the build that day
I’ve never ordered a spare part; in fact, I only found out that was possible when I joined the community—I didn’t know it was an option.
But I’ve always tried to fix the problem myself.
I was working on one of my builds and dropped a very important gear. I looked everywhere, and couldn’t find it. Then, I had a hopeful thought. I keep spare parts from almost all of my completed projects. Just maybe …
Sure enough, I found a gear that was identical to the one I lost! I could believe it!
Later that night, I took off my shoe, and - you guessed it - it had fallen into the side of my shoe. I put that one back in my spare parts. Now whenever I drop a part, my shoe is the first place I look!
I bought the domed loft: mysterious word on the other hand. Unfortunately, all the paper blanks and stickers to stick were missing. Luckily I got reimbursed. I thought to myself well ugh it’s a free kit. I started it and I create the pieces I’m missing. For example, to create days I take old newspaper stores and I cut and fold. For posters, I can write instead of pasting. I find small sly methods. The kit is not yet finished because I put it aside a little but I would share it one day!
My spare piece story was when I was doing Dora’s loft. There wasn’t anything stabilizing the vent wire patio rails and they just wouldn’t stay up! Then I watched a YouTube video of someone making it and they had a little wall around their kit, which seemed to be a newer edition than the one I had. I used the spare wood from the other pop out parts to surrounded my rails and they finally stayed up!
One of my most memorable spare-part experiences happened while building the Perfect Romance Café. I accidentally sent a tiny piece flying while trying to fit it into place. It was the little part of the door knob that attaches to the cabinet.
I was trying to be extra careful, but apparently the miniature gods had other plans! Thankfully, there was a spare piece included in the kit, and it completely saved the day.

I love this game! Thank you, Robotime, for always keeping us entertained. Hehe. I had so much fun playing! And I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the Treasure Tray!
I ran into an issue with the bunny bakery model kit because a part was missing (the piece for the pastry tray). Fortunately, I was able to contact the seller and get the missing piece. Although delivery took a while, I’m happy that I was finally able to complete the assembly.
@Robotime i started with a missing piece of Alice’s in wonderands book nook —a tiny white speck crucial to keeping Mad Hatter’s tea party from dissolving into sheer chaos. And panic and breaking alices leg oops Distraught, I embarked on a grand quest through the dark, wasteland beneath the craft desk armed only with a flashlight, lots of dust oops lol ..After an hour in between breaks lol my knees hurt ! of unearthing stray crumbs, and a plastic bead and lost pen. I finally admitted defeat and sent a dramatic plea l to customer support.!
Naturally, the moment the replacement part landed on my doorstep two weeks later, I glanced down at my craft table. Sitting right there in plain sight, perfectly perche was the original piece—staring back at me like the Cheshire Cat himself. I need new glasses lol
So far I haven’t had to order a spare piece for any of my builds but I have had the odd piece go missing to be then be found in the most mysterious of places
I don’t know how many people have heard of the story of the borrowers - tiny people who live behind the skirting board or floorboards of your house, with cotton reels for tables and thimbles for chairs - well I feel like I have borrowers in my house that scurry off with items and drop them in the most strange places
Weirdly a lot of items seem to manage to make their way under my mattress and get stuck between the mattress and my bed frame - I once found a long lost crochet hook there and more recently a spare bit of wire from my Rolife kit was caught in the process of making its way there it’s almost like I caught it out mid journey down the side of my bed
Maybe I should stop crafting in my bedroom but unfortunately I don’t really have space to set up a designated craft room or craft desk
