This is such a comprehensive list! I appreciate your comments on engravers in the comments, too. I’ve been wondering about removing the little nubs without sanding off the paint or risking chipping the wood.

I am happy your enjoyed the post.
I love mine. Unfortunately it died about 2 hours ago and I have been hand sanding, so my thumb joints are sore. It was only a couple of weeks old, so I am looking at a replacement with Amazon hopefully.

Oh no, that’s so annoying. I hope they don’t give you any trouble about returning it. I think the return window is 30 days? I’ve never been able to get them to replace anything though, but at least that means you can pick a different brand. It sounds like such a useful tool to have.

They confirmed they can’t replace as it is a private seller, but they have sent me a return label and are giving me a full refund when they receive it. I have already selected purchases my next one which is more a mini rotary tool style and not an engraver as I suspect he engravers little motor just could not cope. 
Yes, I’ve not had much luck with engravers at all. I hope the rotary design is more robust. Let us know how it goes 
Wow, this is such a useful and thorough sanding guide! I love that you included options for every level, from simple nail files and sanding sticks to the USB engraver, and especially the tip about using a light touch with powered tools. I’m definitely curious to hear what everyone’s own sanding game changer is! 
Thank you for sharing your tool kits. I think it looks great. I have only been using sanding paper. I would love to try the tool one day.
It is so.much easier on the hands than sandpaper.
