Yoohoo, yooohooo, a viiiiking life for meeeee.
Yeah, everyone knows Vikings, but have you watched The Last Kingdom? That’s a real TV series. One of the best I’ve ever seen… And I’ve seen so many!
Okay, let’s see. Last week… Last week I’ve made the wheel! A wheel nobody truly understands. Why is a drakkar model coming with a gigantic spinning lighted wheel in the middle of it? Don’t get me wrong, as a model it looks fantastic! I just don’t get the meaning of it, and I also know some people have decided not to buy this precisely because of that. I’m just curious! Maybe you can tell us the story behind that choice of design, @Robotime?
Anyway! Let’s keep going with this gigantic monster! I’ve been out for the weekend as I usually do so now It’s time to start putting some things together so I can start feeling the true size of this kit. And I mean it. It’s gonna be enormous ![]()

First things first: head and tail of the dragon. Both things follow a pretty similar chain of steps to be built, and it’s so straightforward, no issues found there. They look pretty cool! And both the head and the tail can be moved a bit to the front and back of their own lines. Will that be a manual thing to adjust or will they move along with the oars and wheels once built and plugged? We’ll see! Babysteps, folks, babysteps.
So… How should I call my dragon ships? Any thoughts? Velarion? Drogon?
Or maybe… Smaug?
The head looks cooler than the tail though. Who would’ve though this is a tail? Not me. It can hurt people with it though!
After this, I had to put head and tail together with the… Body, of the dragon? And then add the wheel I’ve built in the previous post to said body so the dragon would come to life. Yass!
You can guess by the size of my hand how big this already is. I even had some issues to take that photo with the whole thing in it ![]()
To put this together was pretty easy, I would say. The only hard thing I’ve found so far are the screws. Since the wooden parts are thin and you’re putting some of them together, you really need to put some strength on your screwdriver in order to make them go properly through.

It pays off though! It’s looking stunning already, isn’t it?
And that’s it for the main build for today! I’ve also started crafting the engine area, which basically comes with some smaller wooden parts and gears coming together around it, so when it’s time, magic will happen!
Not sure where this thing will go yet, though. You know I don’t like to check the manual in advance so the building process will be mostly a surprise for me ![]()

We’ll see how this keeps going tomorrow.
See you/read you around!
