OMG OMG OMG that was way faster than I expected it to be!
So… Yeah, this is what I’ve chosen as my February Leaderboard Prize, and it just arrived! I’m SO excited there are many reasons why I’ve went for this one, but here are the main ones:
In case someone hasn’t noticed yet, I LOVE ships, specially old-fashion ships, such as pirate and viking ones
Mechanical Model kits are, without a doubt, my favourite ones overall
I’ve always loved the Norse/Pagan/Viking culture. I was born in Galicia (north-west corner of Spain) where viking raiders used to attack. Actually there’s a festivity there the first weekend of August every year, the Viking Festival of Catoira. A group of people would dress up as vikings and sail on a viking ship, and another group would dress up as locals to defend the towers. The vikings would get off the ship and they would pretend to fight the locals, and then everyone attending the spectacle would spend the day, eat, drink… Funnily enough that’s how my parents met my dad was a viking, my grandpa was a local, they “fought” and then my grandpa invited him to have lunch with his family. He saw my mum-to-be… And here I am, a few decades later so yeah, the Viking tradition holds a really special place in my heart since… Well, it’s basically the reason I was born
For some reason I can’t really understand, I haven’t found a single post of people building this one in the community! That’s a first
I though of buying it a couple of times, but it wasn’t yet on the top of my wishlist. When I saw my name on the prizes list… I just couldn’t help it!
@Nita_Davis I didn’t have a clue what I had to fill in when I won i had to message robotime ! At least they got my info now ! I wont expect mine for a while as im in the UK xx
So happy for you <3 I love your reasoning and passion about ships/vikings. To be honest yeah… I also didn’t see anyone to build this one. So would be nice to see it especially that i love the moving ROKR builds as well Looking at pieces this will be fun to assemble! Look forward your updates. I have this in my ever growing Wishlist. I really like the idea that it is a Viking ship! Great choice for you judging by your past history. Have some fun. I’m sure you’ll display it beside your barque.
It doesn’t work like that. It’s not that you buy it and they refund you, it’s more that you tell them the kit up to $60 you want and they send it to you for free.
