This morning I was quite nervous. A whole group of people who were strangers to each other. Will it be fun? Will everyone have a good time at the meetup? These were the questions running through my head.
The venue owner had already set up the tables exactly as I had envisioned. The arrangement was nice, as it made it easy for people to talk to each other.
Just before 1:00 PM, the first people arrived. They were allowed to draw a ticket and pick the kit that matched their ticket. Once everyone had their kit, it was time to swap with those who preferred to build a different kit.
Everyone was happy with the kit they received. After an introduction about Robotime, it was time to get building. There were some experienced builders, but also a few inexperienced ones. It was fun to see how everyone helped each other. Here and there a part broke, but luckily there was plenty of superglue. Everyone was focused on building which made them completely forget that I had also brought something tasty .
You did a great job. There was a very relaxing atmosphere and i really enjoyed competing with your nephew who was a litter faster with the bus then me haha. Hope to meet up again later this year.
Thank you so much @Jerry_Boswijk It was really nice to meet you and get to know you better. I also really enjoyed the group and it was fun to see you having a competition with my nephew
This looks amazing but i was wondering..do you pay all of this out of your own pocket? Or does robotime pay for you to get to do it. Either way i love it
Aww Liset, this sounds like such a beautiful meetup
I love how you described your nerves at the beginning, we all know that feeling! And look how wonderfully it turned out. The setup looks so warm and inviting, and I love that people were swapping kits and helping each other. That’s real community right there.
To bad it was to far for husband and me, hopefully one day there can be one closer to us, I’m living only a few Kilometers from the French border in West Flanders, and we have some kind of birthday weekend with our daughter at home as she turns 17 Monday 9th March, spoiling her after everything that has been and yet to come
This looks like an amazing event. Those tables are huge giving everyone plenty of space for building. That’s the first thing I noticed…LOL! It’s so cool that you and Jerry were able to meet. I’ll bet that people were in awe of your beautiful kits. Well done!
This looks amazing Liset! The room is spacious and set up looks so warm and inviting! Congratulations on a successful meet up and I’m so jelly you got to meet up with others from the community.
The space at the tables was perfect. I think they were just the right size for building together without too much stuff being piled up on top of each other
Thank you @JDisaduck I really enjoyed meeting people from the community. I’d love to meet you too, but not too close to my house, because then I’ll miss some builds
It’s so true. It might not look like it from the outside, but organizing a meetup a lot of time of planning, thinking, arranging and re-arranging…
It’s incredibly rewarding, but you definitely go through a lot of nerves along the way. That mix of excitement and “I hope everything goes well!” is so real.
You should be very proud, all that preparation truly paid off
