And that’s a wrap for the Auckland, NZ DIY & Crafting Club Meetup 02! I truly think I had the sweetest and most wonderful participants ever, thank you all for joining and making it such a memorable morning! ![]()
The first thing I did this morning was check the weather report:
The beautiful weather was on our side, making it the perfect day for participants from all over the city to gather and enjoy a relaxing morning of crafting. Some participants travelled quite a long way just to be there and I’m extremely grateful for the effort they made. ![]()
Here are the Robotime kits available at this meetup:
- Sweet Scoopery Ice Cream DP002
- Old Times Bookstore DP004
- Honey Dessert Talk DG168
- Terminator M870 Justice Guard Gun LQ501
A quick tour of the setup! The room wasn’t the most spacious but it was just right for what I needed. It really set the tone for a cozy and relaxing morning.
It didn’t take long before my participants started arriving and soon the room buzzed with energy and cheerful chatter as everyone settled into their seats. Happiness filled the air as they eagerly unboxed the kits in front of them. Smiles and little squeals of excitement echoed through the room as they explored the details of the kits, neatly packaged in little bags and waiting to be discovered.
I loved how there was a mix of new and veteran builders. It wasn’t intentional, but it worked out perfectly! Experienced builders ended up sitting next to new builders on each side, naturally offering support while I was busy moving around the room. I couldn’t have asked for better help!
One of my favourite parts of this meetup was hearing people share their building experiences. It had everyone bursting into laughter, realising they’re not alone in their little misadventures! ![]()
It’s a different kind of comfort knowing you’re not alone with sticky tape mishaps, missing parts, and messy carpets. Or those moments when you doubt the process, only to realise the instructions had it all along and you’d just jumped ahead!
The atmosphere was lively and full of joy as the little details and structures began coming together, and it was amazing to see all the kits come to life. Everyone was fully focused on their own kit, yet there was a constant sense of community as they shared tips, celebrated small victories and admired each other’s progress.
A few close up shots of our builders’ process, featuring those who definitely belong in the tidy and organised category!
Summer has stolen my heart today. She managed to complete most of her kit on her own, with mum, Jen offering help only when needed, which wasn’t very often! I sense a professional Robotime kit builder in the making! ![]()
Some very happy smiles.
“I had so much fun, I will definitely be getting another!"
Time really flew by and before we knew it, the meetup was nearing its end. ![]()
Despite a few broken pieces and forgotten springs, the first kit to be completed was the Terminator Justice Guard gun! Next up was the Sweet Scoopery Ice Cream kit, with two participants managing to complete 90% of it, leaving only a few tiny details unfinished. Beautiful things take time, so the rest of the team will be continuing their building journey at home. ![]()
I was a bundle of nerves at the start but thanks to the loveliest group of participants one could ever wish for, the meetup turned out to be an absolutely wonderful experience. I’m one lucky person! ![]()
A huge thank you to @Robotime for giving me the opportunity to host this meetup and create such lovely memories together! It was a surreal experience meeting fellow veteran crafters and introducing a hobby I hold close to my heart to others. I learned so much from this experience, and I can’t wait to host the next one! ![]()
