👍 [Pro Tips] How to fix noisy pendulum from cuckoo clock

Hi everyone

I have build the Rokr Cuckoo clock a few months ago and it was working perfectly fine. However, recently I started to notice a clock making loud clicking/tapping noise. And I have seen it happens to a few members recently. What happen is the pendulum was swinging too hard.

So this is what I meant. So let’s look at the photo below.

When the pendulum swing, part A (in red) will slightly stopped by part B (in blue). When it just swing gently you don’t really notice the noise. However, for some reason overtime it swing harder. When part A touches part B too hard it will produce the noise.
Some member have tried trimming part A or B but I was thinking this might not work for long term.

So what I did to fix it is i glue a piece of small fabric or foam to both part A and B to create cushioning for both parts when it comes into contact. And I was trying to fix this through the holes without having to take anything apart. It is a lot easier and it works really well. The pendulum now swing freely without any noise at all.
If you have this problem, you can try this.

You can even try this before assembly to make it a lot easier if you want to prevent the noise from happening rather wait until it’s all done and the noise become annoying.

I should do a before and after video that capture the difference in the noise but totally forgot about it.

I hope this tips will help you fix this issues easily without any problem and not having to wait for the replacement part.

Good luck.

OMG! Thanks a lot for this tip. I’ve been reading many people finding this issue and I’m gonna build this kit soon enough, so I may just add those suggested pieces of fabric or something to those parts whenever I’m supposed to build that.

I highly recommend it. Because once it is assembled it’s a little tricky to try to glue it. May as well just add it in from the beginning. My clock is perfect now and don’t have to bother trimming anything.

Good luck with it

That’s a really good tip! I’ll have to try to remember that when I build mine.

Good luck when you start building it. I really enjoy building mine

I think a before and after video would be helpful. It could be helpful for the customer service team as well.

I saw other people had used a different solution. They talk about it in this thread. Cuckoo clock pendulum noisy

Oh I haven’t built this but it’s definitely on my list so this will be helpful! I’m assuming the photo you have is a before photo? Unless I’m blind and I don’t see it.

Can you add a photo of the foam attached?

That is just the before photo so people know what I am talking about. I’ll try to take the after photo so you all know what I meant.

That would be great! Thx Tricia

Thanks for sharing! I’ll keep that in mind if I run into this problem. Do you have your clock running on batteries or via USB?
