A few days ago, I found some glow-in-the-dark acrylic paint at a cheap store. I couldn’t resist. Today I tested whether it really glows. My conclusion is:
The colored paint isn’t visible on the wood, so it’s smart to first paint the wood with regular acrylic paint to give it color, then paint over it with the glow-in-the-dark paint.
I applied three coats; with fewer coats, I only saw a minimal glow.
It really glows, although it has a glitter effect and isn’t even. The white paint seems to give a more even glow. I’ll try applying it again later to see if it glows even better in the dark.
It sounds like its just uv glow in the dark powder mixed into some paint, which is why its showing in speckles like glitter. Its very cool! i like it!!
The glitter makes it like a special effect, i’m going to gave the flower on top of the piano also a glow in the dark paint. I will show the end result when it is finished
The white one seems to glow better in the dark. I’ll try it today to see if it glows better. It’s a shame you don’t want to work on your pinball because of it; it’s such a fun build, and I think the end result would be amazing
You can give your build an special effect with the glow in the dark paint. This is a very cheap paint, I’m going to look if there is also a more expensive paint that might cover better.
We have some big craft stores near by. I will have to look! The guitar will be more fist ROKR build so I will investigate. I am partial to a shiny red guitar on the base.
