This time I just wanted to share what I have usually use for painting and colouring my miniatures. Nothing super professional - just things I’ve slowly collected and experimented with along the way
I also have an airbrush, but honestly, I don’t use it much yet — still in the learning and exploring stage Hopefully I’ll get more comfortable with it over time.
Before, I’ve even tried using nail polish — solid colors, glitter ones, and even a special top coat. Surprisingly, they work quite well on miniatures sometimes!
A pencil And mechanical pencil for shading and sketching shadows
To be honest, I don’t have that much experience in painting, and I wouldn’t say I have a lot of “professional techniques.”
But I really enjoy experimenting and trying things out, and I wanted to share what I’ve tried so far — so we can exchange ideas, learn from each other, and grow together as a community
As soon as I saw the first few pics…before reading…I thought “Is that an airbrush”. I am just wondering how hard are they to use. I am use to using a large sprayer for painting houses…but those things, I find intimidating…LOL!
LOL yes!! You spotted it right away — I used it a few times and then it got “sent to the corner” Still a bit intimidating, but I’m sure I’ll bring it out again one day… maybe when I’m feeling brave
I understand totally about things being sent to the corner. I have about 6 or 7 sets of markers that I rarely ever use. They are just here in case I ever find a use for them. I really like that you have the mechanical pencils for shading. That’s totally professional and your paintings look so good
Haha, glad I’m not alone with the “corner collection” Thanks for noticing the mechanical pencils — still learning, but they really help! Appreciate your kind words!
Haha, you’re making me blush! I’m just out here trying not to mess things up too badly, but I’m loving every minute of it! Let’s keep rocking this hobby together!
I love blue too—it’s so calming. I color everything using the same blue tone to keep it consistent for the theme park. Using a tiny brush like a needle helps me get those narrow lines just right, but it does take a lot of patience. I usually break the coloring into a few days so I don’t lose focus. I’m really glad people notice the details—it means a lot!
