[DIY & Creativity] ROKR Tilt-A-Whirl Update 1

Hey guys! :waving_hand:t2:

Happy Weekend! :grin::grin:

So I did it, I finally took the plunge and started painting a build! As I’ve said in the past, I would like to paint the ROKR amusement park rides, and the Magic Instruments, and with the arrival of my new paint markers I finally started!

This is what I’ve gotten done over the last couple days. The first half of the build is basically just putting the base together and no mechanics. I have another half a page of building the base and then I finally get to start putting all the electrical stuff together, which I’m excited for!

I actually kind of like the wooden look of the original build, so I aimed to still keep some of the wooden look with still adding some more colour! I have used paint pens for everything!

So far, I think that this is actually a pretty good kit to start with for any beginner painters like me out there!

I start nightshift tonight, but I do plan on working on this a little bit during my work set, so I hope to have another update in a few days!

Here’s a couple pictures of the unboxing, I didn’t want them to be the thumbnail of the post which is why I’m posting it at the end lol!

Hope everyone has a great weekend, and thanks for reading!:heart:

Thank you! I can’t wait to get all the mechanics together and see it moving, that’s always my favourite part!

OMG. This is looking fabulous! So happy that you have started your journey into the painting world.

Thank you @Nita_Davis , that means a lot coming from you!:heart: I know you’re not a fan of the markers, but they are definitely working at turning me into a not dreading painting type of person! I don’t know how you do it with a brush, while I’ve been painting all I’ve been thinking about is how hard it would be to do it with a brush, as well as constantly having to rinse the brush, and make sure your paint is the right thickness. The markers take all the difficulty out of painting, though they do have their own downsides of course! I highly admire the way you paint things, and recognize the work it takes!:blush:

I would absolutely use them…IF I could buy them as singles…because if they run out in the middle of a project, you are sucked in to buying a whole new set…and just praying they match the original set. I do tend to like my bottled colors though.

Yeah, I don’t plan on being a big painter, just the few builds I mention in the post, and whenever a Rolife kit comes with paint I’m going to sub it out for the markers, so I feel like they will last a while! The most used marker has been white so far, and they do sell just packs of white, so that’s good!

You are exactly right. I use red white and black a LOT…but my favorite color is arbor green and none of those match that.

I want to make a funfair with these kits :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Yoooo for the first time I’m early!

It’s looking good so far! I do agree there’s a certain charm to the original wood design! I think you’ve done an amazing job with the colour palette. :light_blue_heart:

I also love painting with markers they just aren’t that cost effective on larger surfaces. :see_no_evil_monkey:

Thanks homie! Yeah, any big walls I have to do in my miniature builds I plan to use my little roller set, but for the small stuff the markers are great! I don’t plan on fully painting too many builds!

That’s the plan! I already have the whole set sitting in my back log!

It looks great. I do like your combination of colour and plain. I think you’re going to be bitten by the painting bug!
