I love this topic so much! Each story, whether it’s building miniatures together, painting, sewing, or simply laughing over tiny pieces gone missing, reminds us that crafting is more than just a hobby. It’s about connection, patience, and love. These moments become treasured memories, passed down through generations, and they inspire all of us to keep creating.
When I think about crafting and family, I realize I was surrounded by creativity long before I even knew what to call it.
My mom and my sister were probably my earliest crafting people, and we always loved making things together, sometimes out of whatever we could find at home. One of the first crafts I remember was something my mom made to sell when I was really young. It was a tree made with small flowers glued or pinned onto a styrofoam orb. I don’t have a photo of it anymore, but I can still picture it so clearly, and one day I really want to make one myself.
In my family, crafting was also a way to reuse things and turn simple materials into something special. I remember my cousin Hershey drying eggshells, crushing them, gluing them onto boxes for texture, then painting them. Looking back, I realize I was surrounded by very creative people. My grandpa had the most beautiful orchid garden, my mom and grandma are amazing cooks, and now I like to think I’m getting there too with my little vegetable garden. One of my favourite family memories was planning my sister’s “Baby to BEE” baby shower
with my mom. We made wooden honeycombs from scratch by cutting planks, sanding, nailing, and staining them together. It was a lot of work, but it was such a good time.
The kit that reminds me most of family is Sakura Dreamy Tour because it will always remind me of my mom. She is home personified to me. My father passed away about 29 years ago, but I think I still see little pieces of him in every tiny book I make. My mom once told me one thing I have in common with my dad is our love for books, reading, and the written word, so whenever a kit has little books or shelves, it feels extra meaningful to me. Crafting has always been more than making something pretty. For me, it is family, memory, comfort, creativity, and love, built piece by tiny piece. ![]()
Aw thank you so much for your kind words! ![]()
My Gran loved marbles and had a big collection. My brother and I as kids would play for hours with the marbles, we absolutely loved them. She had all different colours and sizes, using our creativity we’d make ramps or tracks to roll them through and race them
It’s such a lovely memory I have and I still love marbles thanks to my Gran!
The chocolate factory marble run really reminds me of the times with my brother and Gran. Watching the marbles go around really brings back them memories
And my Gran loved sweets and chocolates so I feel the chocolate factory definitely suits her
When I was a child, my father always encouraged me to be creative and try new things. Those moments taught me the joy of making something with my own hands.
Now, one of my most memorable crafting moments happened when I joined my very first Rolife meetup session with my father. Together, we carefully assembled the kit, shared ideas, and enjoyed every step of the process. Seeing the finished piece and my father’s genuine smile made me feel incredibly happy and satisfied. It was not just about crafting, it was about spending meaningful time together.
If I could choose a Robotime kit to represent this special memory, I would pick the Rolife DW001B. It reminds me of the cozy café meetup where my father and I experienced Rolife for the first time. The warm and welcoming atmosphere perfectly reflects the happiness, connection, and wonderful memories we created together.
Today was a special day because it was the first time my father accompanied me to a Robotime meetup event.
We built a Rolife puzzle together. It was also the first time that my father and I worked on a Rolife project side by side. While building it, we talked, laughed, and enjoyed the time together.
My father is usually a serious person, but this activity helped us become closer. Rolife gave us more topics to talk about and created a special memory for both of us.
Robotime is not only about building beautiful models. It also brings people together and helps families strengthen their relationships. I will always remember this meaningful day with my father.
You’re very welcome! ![]()

It’s so nice that you have these memories with your dad. Thanks for sharing. @S_R
It is great you are passing down those skills your Dad taught you down to your nephew. Happy Building @Yazhini
love how you described those early crafts, like the flowered styrofoam tree and the textured eggshell boxes as more than projects; they were lessons in resourcefulness, imagination, and love.
I love how marbles became more than just toys—they were a way for you, your brother, and your Gran to bond, create, and imagine together.
