Weekend Glow Activity 5 | Every Builder Starts Somewhere ✍

:cherry_blossom: Our Weekend Glow Series continues into a new month!

Every weekend, we’ve seen so many beautiful creations, cozy moments, and little stories shared across the community.
It’s been wonderful watching how everyone connects through making, imagining, and building. :sparkles:

As we begin a new month, we wanted to slow down a little this time… and talk about something more personal. :two_hearts:

:thought_balloon: Your First Step Into Robotime

Think back to when you first discovered Robotime…

Maybe you were excited, curious, or even a little unsure.
Maybe you wondered:

  • “Will I be able to finish it?”
  • “Is it too difficult for me?” :face_with_raised_eyebrow:
  • “What if I mess something up?” :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:
  • “Where do I even start?” :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

Everyone begins somewhere… and every builder has a first moment like this. :yellow_heart:

We’d love to hear your story…

:cherry_blossom: This Week’s Topic

:herb: If you’ve been with us for a while:

Tell us about your first impression of Robotime:

  • What was your biggest concern when you first started?
  • How did you overcome it?
  • What surprised you the most afterward?

:seedling: If you’re new here:

Welcome! :sparkles:
We’d love to hear from you too:

  • What first caught your attention?
  • What are you most interested in building or collecting?
  • What are you slightly worried about before starting?

There is no right or wrong answer, just your honest thoughts. :tulip:

:light_bulb: Quick Sharing Ideas

You can share:

  • :camera_with_flash: A photo of your first (or current) build
  • :teddy_bear: Your favorite Robotime set or character
  • :speech_balloon: A short story about your experience
  • :writing_hand: Even just a few honest sentences are enough

This is not about perfection…
it’s about remembering where we all started. :sparkles:

:wrapped_gift: Weekend Series Rewards

With the start of this new month, we’re happy to continue our special reward:

:sparkles: Participate in the Weekend Glow Series for 4 consecutive weeks
and receive a $20 OFF coupon for orders over $50 :tada:

:speech_balloon: Gentle Reminder

Every expert was once a beginner.
Every beautiful build started with a little hesitation.

And sometimes, the most meaningful part of the journey
isn’t the final piece… but the very first step. :footprints:

So this week, we invite you to look back, reflect, and share.

We can’t wait to hear your stories. :yellow_heart:

it was actually my husband starting to build these kits in 2022, this was the first kit (in this picture) we bought and that my husband build for me, and many kits followed, I joint him in building In 2025 building

This is a good topic and I love to read all the replies.

For me,

First Impression of Robotime:
When I first saw Robotime, I was blown away by the detail. The kits feel like art, and I love how the designs match what I’m into.

Biggest Concern at the Start:
My biggest conern was whether I’d have the patience and skill to actually finish one. The kits looked so intricate that I wasn’t sure if I’d get frustrated halfway through—or if I’d even have enough time to build it.

How I Overcame it:
I took it step by step, treating the build as a relaxing activity rather than a race. Once I slowed down and enjoyed the process, I realized it was more fun than stressful. It took me weeks to complete my first Rolife kit (The Sakura Densya), but as I built it little by little, I began to see its beauty. The experience helped me relax and truly appreciate the joy of slowing down.

Biggest Surprise Afterward:
What surprised me most was how satisfying the final product turned out. Not only did I feel proud of completing it, but the finished kit looked so impressive that it felt worthy of display. What made it even more special was the connection I felt. It wasn’t just about finishing for the sake of completion, but about building with emotion and meaning. :orange_heart:

My first getting to know, without knowing it was Rolife, was a little gift we received while ordering at an online shop, we got the Vintage Car and I assembled that one in one night in front of the tele, with much fun.

I never heard about booknooks until my online friend @Martine_Stabij made one and showed it on FB. I was impressed and I loved it. I love books very much and in my new kitchen I have a shelf with cookingbooks, so I thought that a booknook would look very lovely there. I started strolling around to see which one I would like. That’s how I got to know Rolife, I recognised the Vintage Car.

My first booknook was the Holiday Café. I fell for the little bear sitting in the Holiday Café, having a moment with coffee and a croissant before catching the train (in my imagination).

I received the kit and to be quite honest, I really doubted whether I would manage to assemble this kit, I was overwhelmed by the parts and numbers and pictures in the manual.

But once I just sat down and started at point 1 on page 1 (after Martine told me to do it step by step and read very well before you do something) I found out that in fact it’s not that hard.

It took me approx 4 weeks to finish my kit, but that’s because I only did about 1 hour of building in the afternoons, and not every afternoon.

But the moment I finished the kit I felt ‘empty’, I felt an urge to find a new kit so within two weeks I ordered my second one, Arcade Dating.

I realised I was hooked, completely and totally. But I don’t care, building helps me to stop thinking, normally I always am thinking and reflecting and doing things, but when I build my thoughts are completely empty, I only focus on my building.

So my first experience was a bit scary but it turned out to be exactly what I was looking for.

Now I made two booknooks and one miniature building (not Rolife). I’m taking it slow, I learned that you can spend too much money on the kits when you just start looking around. So I restrain myself, but I am secretly looking for a new one again.

I discovered it in Japan in 2019, and when I saw all those miniature houses, I fell in love. I bought my first kit, a Booknook with a train and a cherry blossom from Rolife. It’s a shame I have to put it away because of the move.

My first build was the ROKR cuckoo clock. We had been looking for the perfect clock for our home but never found the right one—until we saw it in store and instantly fell in love. I started building it the next day. At first, I was worried it might be too challenging, but I ended up really enjoying the process and quickly got hooked. It soon became a new hobby, and I’ve built more and more since then. For me, ROKR is both relaxing and rewarding—it helps me unwind and relieve stress by fully focusing on the build. I’m excited to keep growing my collection in the future!

I went big and started with Sam’s Study years ago. I didn’t think too much about it, I just loved it and wanted to build it. It surprised me how challenging it felt at times, but also how satisfying it was. Since then, even if I have more or less time depending on work, I just haven’t been able to stop building

The vibe of xmas is already shining through my home and we just love Xmas so I decided to build the Dream Gift Factory. It’s a beautiful kit that anyone would love and enjoyed. I am hoping to complete it this weekend. Here is a photo of what I have got done so far.

I am still afraid to even think about this one. But I like it!

Is this your first build ever? Wow, how brave of you!

That’s very challenging for a first kit, I think, reading all those experiences with Sam’s Study!

So you build already 7 years, that’s great! I got my car two years ago, but I only started ‘for real’ last November

I started a while ago, but since I live independently I haven’t always been able to buy everything I want

I

I had been wanting to do a book nook for some time and my daughter got me my first for Mother’s Day 2024.
I’m a craftaholic so I wasn’t really worried just excited. Id seen so many ads and positive comments on the kits I was excited.

As I sat down to start the build tragedy struck and we got the call that my husband’s one son had died on his 43 birthday. Immersing myself in the build help me stay calm while I supported my husband.

I build and create to keep the blood pressure down and the mind clear.

I’m so sorry for your family. A parent should never have to say goodbye to a kid. I guess this build is very special to you and your family now, it’s like it’s the new home of your husbands son, just sit quietly in that chair, watching and guarding you from his angel throne. I can understand that building this made your mind relax a bit, take away the thoughts and pain for a moment

That’s sad when you need to leave behind something that’s very important.

I agree. Aside from those kits as collecion, it represents our emotions, time and how we are at peace or being ourselves while building one
