Growing without a father figure has been difficult. But I am very lucky and grateful to have my grandparents. They has always been there for me. I remember when I was little and to get to school I have to cross a muddy road. My grandpa would piggy back me through those muddy road so my uniform wouldn’t get dirty. He is a great farmer with a brilliant carpentry skills. I used to be by his side when he build the shed, table and chairs for home and I was his little helper. When we moved abroad to live and return to visit in 2006. He said when we left part of him was killing inside. My sister and I was both in tears. We promised him that we will study really hard and become successful. 10 years ago we invite him over from overseas to witness that we have successfully graduated, have a stable career and bought a beautiful house for our mother. He was very proud of us.
Grandpa passed away 6 years ago but I never once thought that he already left us. In my heart he will always be watching over us from above. He is the biggest star of my life and I am always grateful to have him in my life. So when I saw the cuckoo clock, it reminds me of my grandpa straight away because he used to have a wall clock which are very similar.
Another person that I am always grateful to is my mum. She would sacrifice everything for myself sister and I to have a better life. She would work 2 jobs just so she can provide for us so we don’t have to worry about anything and just focus on studying. Our promise to her is that we will do well in school and have a stable career so we could look after her. Some time it could go for a whole month that we didn’t see our mother even though we live under 1 roof. She would work and come home really late, by the time she got home from work we already asleep. And when we get up to go to school, she is still sleeping. So we never want to disturb her sleep.
My mother used to always looking forward to parent-teacher night because that is when she gets to hear how we perform at school and she was very proud because my sister and I was top of the class in almost every single subjects.
I remember when I told her I love to play musical instrument, she would spend her entire wage for the week to buy a violin which was later got stolen because someone broke into our house. I was shattered. So when I finally got a job and stable with our finance I purchased it again. But it never felt the same.
The magic cello always remind me of the violin my mother bought me with her hard earned money. I’m always grateful to my mother for everything that she did for us. She is my star and a super woman. Love her to bits.
