Some of you might remember my grandma Olimpia from previous posts. She’s the one I gifted the custom Elsa’s Tailoring, turned into El Taller de Olimpia, for her
.
Well… today I finally got to give her the Cuckoo Clock I built during Christmas holidays! I couldn’t give it to her at Christmas or for Los Reyes Magos because she was in the hospital for a while, and when she came home I got sick and didn’t want to risk passing anything to her while she was still delicate. So I had to wait… until today!
I had a day off from school and went to visit her. She did NOT expect it at all and she was sooo excited
. The workshop meant so much to her because sewing is her biggest hobby, it was like building her own little room. But this clock… oh, this clock. She has a soft spot for cuckoo clocks, especially the huge astronomical clock in Prague, the one in the Old Town Square that puts on that little hourly show with the figures moving, she fell in love with it when she saw it in person years ago.
After setting the time, she proudly placed it in her dining room. She’s already has the batteries in and says she wants to hear the pendulum and the cuckoo every hour because she loves it. She kept pulling the little ladder so the cuckoo would pop out again and again
.
I also took some photos of the Robotime kits she has displayed in her living room, even the bouquet from her 80 birthday. She’s honestly my biggest fan, and I love gifting miniatures to her. But El Taller de Olimpia will always be the most special because of what it represents, and this cuckoo clock because of how much she adores them.
I just love giving gifts like this. Now I need to start thinking about the next one for her birthday or Christmas… even if they won’t top these two, I know she treasures them and proudly shows them to everyone who visits.
And that’s my emotional Monday post
.
Thanks for reading! Wishing you all a happy Monday!
