👍 [Rolife DIY & Creativity] Best material/method of recoloring plastic surface (Red Couch in Leisure Time Tea Room)

Hi crafters!
As seen in picture below, I tried putting arcylic paint dotted to resemble buttons on the couch, but the paint flaked even with simple movements. As someone that plays with my miniatures, I tend to move miniatures around.
I like the red color so I won’t sand and repaint the couch. Any suggestions for me to get the dotted yellow intact?
I was thinking to plastered dotted yellow paper but the sizes so small, I’m unsure on how to DIY miniscule dotted paper.

Help me, senpaissss!

Some Robotime kits have yellow pen, which you can use for dotting.

I tried with the yellow acrylic marker but it still chipped away. So, I’m unsure painting dotted yellow without sacrificing and sanding the red color is viable?

Sanding for adhesion…or do it when you won’t be touching it again. Also…any oils from your hands will always prevent adhesion of paint.

I’m afraid I will sanded the red color. My concern is only to paint/work at the dotted area of the couch. I came to realize now, the best would be to coat the yellow dotted paint with clear nail lacquer?

It doesn’t matter what you put over the top. If it is not adhering to the plastic, it will still come off. From a (house painter of 35 plus years)

:sob:
So the best is to try sanding the dotted area as tiny as possible + repaint it.
or not touching it again afterwards
Thank you for the advise! I will update with the newest repaired picture of the couch, after i work around it again

You’re welcome. Paints don’t stick well to glossy surfaces.

Paint may not stick well to plastic or glossy surfaces. Some Robotime kits include fine-tip pens in white, gold, or silver — have you tried using those? Another solution could be using small round stickers with adhesive backs.

Hey @Aiffah_Badron you can use this… use toothpick for assist…

Paint always sticks hard to plastic. I agree with @Nita_Davis, I think you should sand it a bit first.
