👍 [Rolife DIY & Creativity] Acrylic Pens and your experience 🖌️

I was inspired by one of the post earlier on using Acrylic Pens and I was lucky to find one from the local discount store. I purchased this brand called King Art. The colours are Opaque, although limited colours are available. I will try blending colours later but worried that the brush tips will have colours mixing too much.

I really like how it makes the kits look more put together I will colour the ones that can match… like this Christmas tree, I also used *Old Nail Polish” for a quick paint.

The Camellia I made earlier seemed like it matched, but I got too excited I started colouring outside the lines… Definitely will need to paint before snapping things into place.

Subtle comparison but definitely will need to start painting the edges!

Take a picture of your go to tools for painting!

Is there an Acrylic Pen brand that you find has the best colour range? or do you customize/ colour match?

I was ready to whip out the good ol’ brush and paint but with my busy schedule I need something that can be quicker! It works so well, can’t wait to get more shades

Thank for share. I am also choosing the best acrylic paint.

good to hear that it works well.

These are what I ordered from Amazon.

Probably more than I needed but I liked the large assortment of colors. What I found was I still needed the bottles because I can mix and get closer to the color I want. I do like the markers and use them alot, especially for edges. But I dont think I needed 124 of them. Oh well now I know

I use a lot of acrylic pens for the edges.
I used these, i bought them at a cheap store nearby (Action), but they don’t cover well and are very watery. And because of the grain in the wood, you get color variations.

Last time i went to action they had these acrylic pens. They look like the ones you have. The paint covers much better. A lot of paint comes out, though, so it takes a while to dry. So far, I’m very happy with them. I got 24 for 5 euros.

but I do prefer just paint and a brush, because then I can mix paint and get closer to the original color if a building has already been painted

Do they cover well? @jeanneL

They are ok. Some cover better than others. On the edges, I almost always need two coats, but I think the wood just sucks it up

Have you painted a lot? I think that would be really fun to do, but I really can’t draw. If I draw a fish, everyone thinks a child drew it

They look great already! Acrylic pens are perfect for clean edges. I usually paint before assembling too.

I usually paint bigger stuff, I did dabble a bit on enamel ink for plastic figures.

here’s two big posters i made for my old classroom:

I aged out my R2D2, nothing too dramatic.

I haven’t painted in a while, I think I will just need to find a way to mix both hobbies :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I have experience with some mediums but sometimes i get apprehensive getting new ones lol :joy: I collect hobbies and I try not to collect too much knick knacks/tools (which is hard) lol

I have the King art ones as well, but mine are dual-tipped for a fine line and a regular brush tip. I also have Staedtler fine line pens and a set of Artugn acrylic pens. I RARELY use any of them though. I just mainly use Apple Barrel acrylics from a bottle and brush it on. Very nice artwork you have done.

How cute! I love the Bunny!

I’m thinking of acrylic markers too as I really am not a fan of painting, especially the edges! But I will most likely not be able to find the same brand as you so I’ll need to go hunting.

Now you can make a lot of little details. You can’t mix acrylic makers right?
