👍 [Rolife DIY & Creativity] Painting edges

I have seen a lot of people, on Facebook especially, asking about why or what edges we paint. This is only how I do it, so definitely do what you prefer to make it your own creation.
I am currently working on a non Rolife kit called John’s Hair Salon. It is all pieces from wood boards, so every single edge is plain brown wood. There are lots of tiny pieces in this build like hair solutions and hair accessories. I don’t like all of the wood look, so 8 choose to paint the edges. Sometimes the piece is mostly one color, so I match that with an acrylic paint brush marker and paint the edge all one color. But sometimes a piece has more than one color, so when possible I paint each part of the edge to match the color on the front of the piece. I hope that makes sense.
I forgot to take a " before" picture, but I think we’ve all see what the wood edges look like. Anyway, here is a plant that I painted the edges with three colors. It really adds dimension to the piece and helps the build look so much more colorful. :slightly_smiling_face:

Painting the edges really makes a difference. And painting them on so tiny pieces is more effort. Great work @Tkaplan your tiny wooden plants look lovely with the painted edges.

I am like you. Although I love wood, I do not care as much for the wood edges. If it has a color, I want it to be all the way around. One reason why I paint the furniture too. I feel like it looks more real. As I said on a previous post, the beauty of these are that we can change them if we want! But we dont have to either.
I am with you though. I love them painted and my acrylic markers usually come through for me!

Wow that’s amazing Tina! It looks natural!

I’ve recently starting painting my edges and it’s a lot more enjoyable using markers. :pink_heart: But if I think it’s too tricky I don’t bother painting.

Perfect colour match. It is definitely an intricate piece to colour and you’ve done it perfectly!

That’s a nice color. You have a lot of patience to paint every edge of the wood.

This is such an interesting approach to customization techniques. Thanks for sharing  if at some point in the future I end up deciding to paint any of my kits, I’ll definitely keep this in mind.
