I’ve started on my flower box and not doing the best. With a combination of fat fingers and heavy hands, I botched my first rose. But I made it through.
And then the stem broke.
Thank goodness for the clips.
I built the box to hold the flowers as I do them but wouldn’t you know; I can’t get them to go through to where they are supposed to.
No worries, I’ll start my second rose. This time, all the mistakes I made on the first let me fly through quicker and put it together much better.
Doesn’t this little piece look like a Brontosaurus?
Then one of the leaf pieces crumbled in my hand (no idea why). But, thanks @Robotime for thinking ahead for clutzes like me and having an extra. (Just a thought - maybe two extra pieces would be good).
It all went together beautifully. And then I went to put them in the box and the stem broke in my first rose again. Not to be outdone, the bud stem broke as well!!
Packed up for tonight and I’ll do some more tomorrow night now - after I work on repairs!
Oh well! So sorry about the issues with your first rose. Accidents happen, specially on a first-time basis, but I hope you were able to properly fix it/glue it! But hey, you can learn something from everything, as you’ve done with that rose. Good for you!
Oh I’m sorry to know that. The stem of the rowood flowers are so fragile even for me that I’m afraid to bend the stem and might break it. I know how it’s frustrating it can be but take a pause if you need to. Those are still beautiful pink roses for me.
Hope you can fix it, i now how you feel, almost every time i do a break on my flowers, up until now it was always fixable, there is always lott of swearing if i have a break. Even the Flower Lady is breaking always something on her flowers
lol sometimes it’s just best to call it a night . Hopefully you will have a better run tomorrow. I use Weldbond for wood repairs it’s great and really strong. You just need to leave it for a bit to set.
I’m sure it will all look amazing in the end @Suzanne_Jones x
So hang tight. depending on what your end product, often there are extra stems. I did not realize this BUT the instructions that come with each flower is almost like a single build. Then when you do the box or bouquet, you end up removing stems. So no worries yet!
The 2 roses still came out beautifully in my opinion! Ive had struggles with the roses as well, ive broken quite a few pedals as well Practice is definitely our best friend for these cases. Im excited to see more updates on your build and how you overcame your obstacles! Well done!!
I agree. I found the flowers to be a challenge. Almost always cracked something and had to repair. But they are so beautiful. I may attempt the purple iris after seeing yours. And as I said earlier, my Mom would love it
I’m so pleased you see that too. I’m glad I’m not the only one ha ha
Thanks for being encouraging Eloy. I’ll get back to it after work this evening and attempt to fix it all.
Thanks so much @serenebliss_23. I do love how they’ve turned out but the wood is fragile with such a heavy flower. I’ll get them fixed and then keep going.
