👍 [Rolife - Challenge & Achievement] Garage Update for Jeanne

I have to say my kit has not been easy. Lots of fragile boards. I struggled with the first cabinet which should have been basic. I then cracked the ladder, which I should not have. Many of my pieces, while snapping together, split. I think some of it was due to me painting in advance. I should not have done that as it did swell a bit. I ended up having to sand nearly every tab.
Advice if you choose to paint this build, wait until you have built, then paint! I circled the pieces that called out for super glue!

I got through it though and am nearing the end. A few more things to complete and then I will stage.
The only painting I did was on the side door, the pinkish-purple stripe, and the yellow peg board. I painted the door a more cream/beige color. The stripe on the wall looked too purplie so I painted that same as door. Hard to keep the lines straight even using painters tape! And I have never seen a yellow peg board in a mechanics garage so I pinted it a more traditional color!

I did not look for crazy posters yet.

It’s looking fantastic so far. I really like the cabinets.

Thanks @Tricia12
I think I needed a few more days off! I had a hard time with some of the fragile pieces

Getting there! Even with breaking, I am nearing the end here!

I’m curious to see what crazy posters you will be putting in the garage kit. Thank you for the helpful tips. :pink_heart: I’m going to take note of that about the painting tips to the wood. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: It’s looking really great.

Some of the small pieces of wood will break or get scratched. I usually have to use a knife to help me separate them.

It’s good to have a break when you need it. I can get quite frustrated when I broke things as well.

I do the same too. I used a scalpel to seperate them especially when I see the board that are a little thin.

Wow! You made so many details in a short time.

I’m sorry to hear about your cabinet. Happy that you were able to fix it and make it work

It’s coming together already.

I have been always curious what does sanding help with??

Smoothing the edges and if there are parts that meant to be rubbing against each to create movement, sanding will help reducing those frictions.

Yes. Mine were breaking when I was putting them together. I think because I painted them. I should have waitied until built.

it looks really good. the ladder is indeed a tricky bit that needs carefull handling.

It looks really good. It’s hard to paint when they are all built.

Yep definitely. I tend to sand the edges too so it’s smooth. It’s nicer when I paint it.
