:hibiscus: Where Stories Begin…

Designer’s Journey :love_letter:

“This model is inspired by a classic typewriter. It’s not just a writing tool, but a reminder of the shift from handwritten words to the age of machines. The mix of metal gears, levers, and a wooden shell symbolizes an early clash between traditional craftsmanship and modern technology. Laser engraving recreates the intricate details of the original: keys, platen, typebars, preserving its vintage vibe while the color palette brings out a sense of mechanical romanticism.”

User Guide :face_with_monocle:

1. Insert an A4 sheet of paper and secure it using the knobs on both sides.

2. Slide and press the lever to observe the gears turning.

3. When you hear a “ding,” move the line feed lever to start a new line.

:backhand_index_pointing_right: Due to the nature of the materials, the typing function is for entertainment only.

:thought_balloon: Bring home the ROKR Mechanical Typewriter, and let the gears of your imagination turn…

It’s an amazing kit; I love the black typewriter.

I recently saw a fellow community member creating it, and it’s a kit I absolutely love!

I’ve never seen it before, but it’s already on my favorites list.

I think anything not involving modern technology can pass as vintage nowadays.

So I think I can find it most in my hobbies:

I like to slow down from this modern life by just sitting down in my backyard with a good book and some tea.

I have some ‘older’ hobbies as knitting and crocheting.

I like to listen to the records my parents used to collect in their teenage years (Simple Minds (mom), AC/DC, Ted Nugent, Judas Priest (dad)). Last year I saw Judas Priest together with my dad on Graspop Metal Meeting which is only 10 minutes from where we live.

Even though I was born in 1988, I mostly listen to music from the ‘70’s, ‘80’s and ‘90’s.

This is picture of the concert last year

The Mechanical Typewriter is such a beautiful timepiece to be treasured for next generations to admire.

How do I recreate the vintage vibe in my everyday life?

Slow mornings, soft music, and a warm cup in hand :hot_beverage:

There’s something timeless about starting the day this way—coffee or tea gently brewing, breakfast shared, conversations unhurried.

In a world that moves too fast, I find comfort in these quiet rituals. It’s here, in these simple moments, that memories are made.

Hoping to pass this on to my children—the beauty of slowing down, being present, and finding joy in everyday family time.

It’s an amazing kit; I love the typewriter.

This is the most amazing kit.
I learned to type on one of these. We thought electric typewriters were the ‘bees knees’ when they came out.
I can recall, if we typed too fast, the metal key would all come up and stick together. And if we needed to do a copy, it was a carbon copy (cc) because we had to feed carbon paper between them. Before whiteout we had a hard eraser shaped like a coin that if you weren’t careful would rub a hole in the paper. All the girls at school were encouraged to take ‘commercial’ courses including typing and shorthand.
How do I live vintage?? I am vintage.
I use old cups and saucers at times. I have my grandmothers stainless steel mixing spoon and her cake tin made out of an old drum (yes, I use them). I have a record player and play my very first albums that I got for my 13th birthday - Bat out of Hell by Meatloaf, and The Best of ABBA.

Unbelievably amazing! I really, really want to have one! It is very nostalgic and I would want to show this to my kids.

Making a start with this one tomorrow! If people like I will show my progress

The typewriter design is such a smart and stylish idea. I’m not surprised you pulled it off—I’m just in awe! :100:

How do I recreate the vintage vibe in my everyday life?

When I was young, my siblings and I would always write letters to our mom and dad during special occasions—birthdays, Christmas, New Year, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, graduations, and even Valentine’s Day. That tradition has continued for more than 20 years, and now at 30, I still carry it on. I write letters to my husband and my two kids for every occasion. I even wrote letters when they were born and placed them in a bayong kit. We plan to keep this tradition alive until the day they can write their own letters too.

This is how it looks like, but the photo is an AI.

That’s such a beautiful way to embrace the vintage vibe! I love how your hobbies connect you to simpler times—reading in the backyard with tea sounds so peaceful.

That’s such a beautiful reflection. I love how you’re passing that sense of calm and presence to your children; it’s such a meaningful legacy in today’s fast-paced world.

I love how you’re keeping those family treasures alive in your everyday life! For us, our vintage teapot and teacups are reserved for big celebrations—like Christmas—making those moments feel even more special.

Yes please. We would like to see your progress.

Thank you! Sometimes I would like to go back to simpler times, not for everything though

@Robotime … this is an amazing creation a true vintage theme with no need for fancy AI or digital photos it speaks for itself …
In a world of fasted paced life i try and enjoy my days with no tv just peace and a coffee … and watching my grandchildren playing like i used to growing up making daisy chains … enjoying the simple things and talking about when i was younger i was born in the 1970s so life was simpler growing up in the 80s … i still have my very first record player to show my grandchildren and my records … and it still works ! I try and make as many beautiful memories as i can with all.my family :smiling_face_with_three_hearts::smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Beautiful new kit! My parents were both journalism majors in college and reporters early in their careers. We actually have a few old typewriters that serve as vintage decoration pieces. One is a manual Royal Sable from 1963 - it has its own carrying case and still works!

This new typewriter kit and the printing press are on my wish list! I love that both are functional!

Aww this is such a beautiful tradition. Your kids would grow and read about what you write for them. I love your traditions @Anje_Leonoza_Mira

I like to recreate a vintage vibe in small ways throughout my everyday life. One thing I enjoy is starting my morning with a cup of milk tea, taking a moment to slow down before the day begins. I also like keeping my space simple and a bit nostalgic, whether it’s through warm lighting, older-style decor, or just focusing on things that don’t feel rushed. Even listening to older music or taking time away from screens helps create that atmosphere.

It’s less about perfectly recreating the past and more about bringing in elements that feel calm, intentional, and a little timeless.

The typewriter is especially interesting to me because of how it works. The mechanical movement and the way each key physically presses onto paper is really satisfying to think about. I also really like mechanical keyboards, so something like this would feel like a perfect combination of that tactile experience and a classic design. It also has such a timeless look, which fits perfectly with the vintage vibe.

For me, the vintage vibe is in small everyday things, not anything fancy.

I still prefer writing quick notes on paper instead of my phone, even if it’s just reminders or random thoughts. There’s something satisfying about it that apps can’t replace.

Sometimes I listen to old music from the 90s while doing simple things like cleaning my room or having coffee. It just changes the mood and makes everything feel calmer.

I also like keeping my desk simple — a notebook, a pen, maybe a book. No need for too much. It helps me slow down a bit, especially after spending so much time on screens.

It’s not about living in the past, just taking a few things from it that make everyday life feel more real.

I think a mechanical typewriter would fit perfectly into that not just as decoration, but as something I’d actually use to disconnect and enjoy writing again.
