📖 [ROKR Journey] Progress Steam engine

On Saturday, I gave my dad his first kit: the steam engine. We went straight to the store to get some paint and markers so he could start painting it. Saturday evening, he got started right away and painted some parts first. He sorted them very carefully so they could dry and he could easily find the parts again (he didn’t get that from me, because it’s always a complete mess when I’m building).

He had a lot of fun with it and immediately said it was very addictive. Here are the rest of the pictures of his progress, he is now halfway there.

Nice job! I really love it that he’s paying so much attention to the details. That’s awesome! I am totally with you on that disorganization part. I am a hot mess when I’m building.

I really think he painted the small details well. He found it very difficult and was amazed at how I managed to paint it so accurately. When I see him on Thursday, I’ll explain to him how to paint the small details well.

what brand of paint pens is that!! it looks opaque and good

I don’t know the brand, it has a very large “acrylic” sticker on it but no brand. We bought this at Action, which is a very cheap store. Usually the acrylic markers aren’t good at this shop, but these looked different and when I tested them they seemed to cover well.

It’s so cool that he is taking to it. You could even spend time building together if you want.

I’ve been curious about the steam engine.

I’m really curious to the end result too. We dont have a lot of time to build together because my parents live one hour drive away. I see them every Thursday because they look after my daughter while I’m at work and when i’m done we eat together, but after that I always have to rush home to put my daughter to bed

Oh my goodness he’s so neat and organised!

It’s really nice to see that he enjoys painting as much as you do!

yes I certainly didn’t inherit that from him. It’s always a big mess for me and I always lose everything I need, such as sandpaper or wax

Oh, well that is understandable. Still a very nice gift. I will be watching for your updates.

He really enjoys building. I called my dad today, and he immediately started telling me how much he enjoys making the structures.
