I’m always bad about taking progress photos, so while I’m thinking of it, I thought I’d post my work in progress: slowly turning Dream Gift Factory into a BTS Dream Factory!
(For the uninitiated, BTS is a K-pop group…they all finished their mandatory 18-month military service in the South Korean military recently, and will release a new album and embark on a world tour at the end of the month)
Modifying any kit with a complete repaint isn’t easy, and that’s doubly true of a kit with heavy mechanics! You don’t want any of your modifications to interfere with the machinery or otherwise make building the kit impossible. Robotime is very precise with their cutting and mechanics (thankfully! Their attention to detail is so good), but that means that tabs need to be shaved of paint and alterations need to be tested in order to fit.
This may be one of the greatest and more complex customizations of a kit I have ever ever seen. You’ve made the Dream Factory completely and absolutely yours! And while I’m not a particular fan of the purple colour, I see why you’ve done it that way.

Now, where’s the video? I want a video of this one moving and with the lights on I guess that’ll happen once you’re done though.

Yes, purple is the official color of BTS, so various shades were a must!
I seem to have trouble uploading video, but I’ll be sure to try and get it figured out once it’s finished. It’s been a long haul with lots of tinkering to get everything moving smoothly, so I’m happy that it’s working currently!
WOW! This is going to be the most amazing transformation I’ve ever seen on ANY model. Your work so far is just phenomal! How on Earth did you even get a vision to do something like this. That “toy line” is very impressive!

Thank you! I just love BTS - I actually changed a book nook from another company into a BTS post-concert scene last year. So when I saw the Dream Gift Factory, I thought it could be perfect for another transformation. I didn’t account for all the complicated mechanics, so this one has been tougher!
WOW, i was really proud of the level of customizing i have done but this is next level. I am amazed at how you made new signs on the paper in the top of the rotating tree to fit in the original sizes.
Thanks, Jerry! That has been the toughest part thus far. I found myself in an argument with ChatGPT trying to get it to give me a sticker the exact same size. Finally I just went the old fashioned way and cut it out carefully.
Oh, I can only imagine…and changing some of these colors to your liking. I am 100% sure it has taken multiple coats for some…ESPECIALLY over yellow. YIKES! Well done!
Wow this customization is absolutely stunning I’m not that familiar with this tire, but your build looks fantastic! The colors are great and match it really well. It’s amazing how you’ve adjusted all the details.
