This is the support shop I built for my idol, Keung To. It was originally a Japanese-style mini grocery store set, but I transformed it into a special shop just for him. Inside, it’s filled with his photos, magazines, and little items related to him — like a store that truly belongs to him.
I named it “To’s House” “濤之館”— a little wordplay using his name, so it feels like a space dedicated entirely to him. I even asked my mom to help me write the sign because my calligraphy isn’t very good, and I really wanted it to have a handwritten, expressive touch to match the vintage Japanese building style. When I showed my mom the finished piece, she thought it was really cute too ![]()
The whole process actually took a lot of time. I kept thinking about how to arrange his photos and searched for many tiny prints of him to place together. But honestly, the process was so enjoyable. Working on miniatures always gives me such a big sense of satisfaction — something small, yet so fulfilling.
I especially love the back wall design. Once, when I was eating at a Japanese restaurant, I noticed how they split one photo into several panels and displayed it across the wall as a backdrop. I thought it looked beautiful, so I brought that idea into this miniature. Lately, whenever I visit different places, I find myself paying attention to their displays and architectural details, thinking about how I can incorporate those ideas into my mini builds. I wonder if anyone else does that too?
This project made me really happy, and I hope this little house can inspire you to create your own miniatures as well ![]()
Next, I’ll be building the cherry blossom series I bought earlier — I’ve been looking forward to it for a long time! Hopefully I can finish them before cherry blossom season
I’ll share which sets I’m making in my next post!
