After searching for over an hour and taking half the piano apart, I discovered why the gears weren’t moving smoothly and were sticking. I’d forgotten to put the plastic washer on top of the top gear (f20), causing it to move back and forth and get stuck. In hindsight, I didn’t need to take the piano apart. From now on, I’ll check my work more often to avoid mistakes.
Now I’m almost finished and working on the piano lid. Hinges need to be installed for this. The holes where the screws should go are a bit small to accommodate the flat bottom of the screw. I poked a screwdriver into the hole to enlarge it and make it easier to insert the screw.
The good thing about mistakes is that you usually only make them once. I try to read each step several times so i dont forget but when in the flow i sometimes dont read carefully and put something on the wrong way round and have to take it apart again.
Glad you figured out what’s missing before completely taking it all apart. Loving the details in the piano too. Hope everything goes smoothly till you finish.
I am going to do it this evening when I get home…then back to my Dreamy Garden House that I was working on before the pumpkin idea popped into my head. @Liset
Glad you figured out the problem and you were able to fix it! Thank you for telling us how you fixed it, plastic washers are a great idea! Im so excited for the end result!
Luckily it didn’t take too long before I found the problem, otherwise the piano would have ended up in the trash the plastic washer is supposed to be there and is also in the manual, but I forgot it
