👍 [Challenge & Achievement] Dream Gift Factory Fails Update

Hi all, here’s a little light hearted update and maybe show some new to the craft to never give up lol. The Christmas tree gave me a run for my money :joy: I initially stuck felt on it to make it look like snow. Didn’t like it so spent ages sanding off snow and repainting. Then decided on some ribbon trim, all looked fab until I realised I’d put it together wrong so it didn’t fit in the base holes, so I had to pull and cut it apart. Broke a piece and had to reglue together. Put it all together with the case and bits on top. You’d think that would be the end of it, but no a piece came off inside the case at the bottom of the tree!:joy: So I took it all apart again, glued that sucker down and now that’s it, if it stops later it can stay stopped :joy:

I just love how you are trying new things. I personally loved the look of the snow but I wondered if the weight of the fabric would interfere with the turning. This is going to be fabulous

That’s a lot of trial and error there. Your gift factory is surely going to be so unique. Looking forward to your finished build. You’re almost there.

Thanks @Nita_Davis , i just thought it looked a bit messy, I think I could have worked something better out for snow. The felt was really light so I don’t think it would have affected the mechanism but it was always in the back of my mind. It’s fun to put our own spin on things, whether it be colour or something else

Ha ha it really was @Jill_Francisco, I admit I was a bit over it and questioning if I should just do it as the instructions :joy::joy::joy:. Thank you hopefully it will look good and not a hot mess :joy:

Oh my :star_struck: maybe the journey was complicated but it was worth it :ok_hand: it looks awesome and thank you to share the steps with us because it’s so true! Sometimes our plans doesn’t work but, we can find other ways to do it better ~

Oh my! That would be frustrating for sure. Well it looks beautiful now and we cannot see any issues!

And that, my friends, it’s why I’m a bit reluctant about the idea of painting or “tuning” my models (well, besides the fact that I kind of suck at it and it’s not my thing)

Cheers to you though, for being able to fix it and keep going and not giving up with it!

Most of my builds did not require painting. I have the electric guitar though. I think I will wait until it isall done and then maybe paint it!

Aww thank you @camila_castro, and you are more than welcome. That is so well said

I’m doing the same with some parts of this build too @jeanneL , I’ll paint when it’s together if needed.

Your work looks great as it is @TheToday! Ha ha after the last couple of days I feel the same! Thank you, I’ve made other models from scratch and I’ve heavily modified other kits so I don’t really worry too much as I know there is always a solution it just takes time and patience, like a puzzle

That’s the spirit! And you’re doing amazingly with it, let me tell you that.
I guess it’s just that I do love all the assembling-crafting process, putting the pieces together and make it work and all that, but the personalization and the painting… That’s where you’ll lose me, I’m not that good at it and I don’t really enjoy it. I guess that’s why I’m loving the Robotime world! Instead of other brands out there that are basically paint-it-yourself besides do-it-yourself :stuck_out_tongue:

I agree that it is always fun to do something new. I once used cotton for snow…on my Christmas Melody tree. I love how yours is turning out. This is such a wonderful build

This made me smile — we’ve all had that one piece that refuses to behave! :joy: But look at you, you didn’t give up, and that’s exactly the spirit of this hobby. In the end, those “mini disasters” make the final result even more satisfying. Great perseverance!

It’s great that you’re trying new things with the structure. Unfortunately, it didn’t turn out so well this time, but you did a great job repairing the tree :star_struck:
