I have just started this build and am having issues with the third step of the first sequence. You have to bend “E1” around a semi-circular form to create the nose of the car. Although there are three “E1” parts each one has broken as I attempt to install it. I have now glued the parts back together twice using wood glue and I am now waiting for them to dry a third time. Does anyone have any ideas or tips to help me bend the part around the former without it breaking. I have been very careful but getting it over the final tab seems to be the “breaker”.
I assume it is a flexible part (looks almost like a skinny rail fence.)
One reason why they give you spare is because they are super fragile. In all honesty I broke one on my Titanic build and then broke the spare. I glued it with B7000. You need to very slowly and gently pull it across. If yours is beyond repair then @Robotime and @CustomerService (which I tagged on here, may be able to help)
I am also tagging @Nita_Davis who has done these and may have additional suggestions.
I am unsure which car you are building. It always helps to state the name of the model in your post. With any flexible pieces, I always sand and wax the tabs of the pieces to be inserted. This makes it much easier. As @jeanneL said…kind of pull and stretch to get it to reach. I also flex mine back and forth for a bit before installing. I have also "trained my pieces to bend a bit easier by layind them on something like a salt shaker and wrapping a rubber band over it.
Welcome to the community, Alan!
Sorry to hear you’re having trouble so early in the build, that’s always frustrating. If you can, could you upload a photo or a short video of the part and the step you’re stuck on? That would really help everyone see exactly what’s happening and give more precise tips. Hopefully we can help you!
Thank you for your patience, and we’re sorry for the inconvenience.
