Flow rate dilution ratio between acrylic paint to water trial for dialing in viscosity. Almost have it dialed in, then will go for the final darker tone for initial fine line application. These are currently at 1.0mm thickness. Takes me back to my earlier days of engineering drafting with ink on Mylar.
Just keep experimenting until you are happy is the real tip for painting kits.
This is interesting! I don’t think I’ve seen this technique before. Could you explain what you’re testing here and how it helps with painting miniature kits? I’d love to learn a little more about what the different lines are showing.

Reading right to left is how much water was added to the acrylic paint to find the correct ratio for flow. My acrylic paint out of the jar is thick, like extra thick yogurt. I normally do not dilute any of my paints. However with fine line application the flow rate must be increased to that paint can be laid down consistently and uniform in my current build. Right now am using a tip of 0.5mm orifice which is yielding a 1.0mm line thickness. Not sure yet if I line weight can be reduced under 1.0 width or not. Will need a few more practice trials to determine that. Far left line grouping is right now the best flow rate. There is still the need to work out excessive tip flow at initial contact point (reference the slight blob before line pulls down to correct width). That blob is almost always there in any/all types of applicator tips going all the way back to my ink on Mylar days doing engineering drawings. The blob will always be there due to the roughness of the plywood and surface smoothness of the painted top coat color. Meaning no big deal to me, just keep experimenting till I am ready to lay down the real fine lines of accent color in a few days from now.
