[Old School Rolife] Dora’s Loft (DG12) Update #1

Hey guys! :waving_hand:t2:

So I actually stopped just talking about starting Dora’s Loft and got to work today!

The manufacturing date on this one was in 2020, so made quite awhile ago!

The first step of this build was a bit of painting, which I usually find quite the slog, but I got some new tools that I was pretty excited to try out today!

So, basically just paint, paint pens, and a little pallet/water tub/brush holder thing.

These are the pieces I had to paint, most of it was edge work. Now, these paint pens everyone has been talking about…. My lord do they make painting edges not terrible. It was so easy, and clean, and fast! This was after one coat of white marker:

Which I think is pretty darn good, I instantly went and ordered just a whole pack of white markers because that’s what I find I paint with the most. So thanks guys for influencing me to get markers!:rofl: I still used normal paint for the fronts and backs, just used the markers for the edges.

I also had to do some more engraving in this one, so that was.. okay. lol

And this was when I was done all my painting, for now… There’s some more painting but it’s like all wire furniture after your done building it… lol

Finally to end my day of crafting I finished with the first two pieces of furniture, a big shelf, and the little pink chair:

Overall, I’m pretty excited to work on this build, it definitely looks like it’s going to have a lot of challenges, but so far it is going well. I go back to work tomorrow for 4 days so I don’t expect to get much building done.

I hope everyone had a great weekend, and thanks again friends for reading my post! :hugs::smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

It’s looking like you’re tackling this head on. The little chair looks really comfy.
Glad you’re enjoying using pens. I just love them.

I am in love with your new paint set! Very nice! That handrail doesn’t appear that it will be much fun to tackle…but your chair looks amazing. Wishing you the best on this lovely model.

My eyes are stunning when I look on your painting tools. They’re so beautiful in my eyes. Thanks for the white marker idea. I never knew that.

You did great on the furnitures. The pink chair is so cute. :pink_heart:

I love your paint and tool. Thank for share. I’m looking forward to your finish build

oh yes! White paint first as base to get more colors and arcylic markers is a blessing for edges and corners/ small area. At this point, i think i would just go for markers instead of tube (altho for white, i use tube cause i need it more as base than other colors)

Your chair looks comfortable.

Paint pens are great for edges.

Yesssss those markers really do make painting edges so much more enjoyable. A cost I’m willing to bear. It’s all looking really good! :pink_heart:

Somehow, I don’t think Dora would be too much of a challenge for you!

Yeah, it’s probably a little more paint than I need, but I wanted lots of variety! The railing I don’t even think is the worst part, there is SO MUCH wire work in this one!

I will! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: I have a feeling that I’ll be building this for awhile.

Oh wow! I did not realize that? Do you mean lighting..or a lot of furniture and stuff to build from wire?

Furniture, lots of furniture! Lol. It also has quite a lot of plants to make from scratch too!

That chair looks darn good! I know some really struggled with that, as well as the famous staircase. You are so positive with this so I know you will do well. I look forward to seeing how this goes. Maybe one day…

What a fantastic job you did on that chair! Mine is all wonky with glue showing all over the place - getting the arms to stick to the seat was hard for me. Yours is so perfect looking!

I switched to acrylic markers over Christmas and they are indeed life-changing!
