I can say Neighbors! since we are not a country apart, next door states!
Robotime brings me such pleasant memories. At my age, I have seen almoat everything, travelled many countries and met a lot of people. When I joined the community, I met the whole world again on a single platform. People from everywhere, sharing pictures, experiences and personal stories, is very relaxing and comforting. Feels like i have loads of friends. (I am not much of a writer and cannot express my feeling eloquently)
I was born in Lucknow, India but went to live abroad for a long time. Coming back to my roots has given me peace. I wish the famous Taj Mahal near my city, could be made into a rolife kit, with white marble depicted in bleached wood and the beautiful calligraphy drawn in miniature. It would be wonderful to assemble such a monument.
My city is the Isle of Man and my parentsā City was originally Pampanga, Philippines, but now they live with me on the Isle of Man.
My Story:
My parents got married and got pregnant with me in their home country, the Philippines, before migrating to the UK and settling in the Isle of Man. At first, it was a bit jarring as a child to be told I was from two worlds. When I was around four to five, I was sent from the IOM to the Philippines for six months to āconnect with my cultureā. While there, I grew closer to my grandparents and cousins, learned the language and it really felt like home, so you can imagine my shock when being brought back to the IOM by my dad and being shoved into schooling where everyone spoke English and all I spoke was Tagalog and my regional dialect.
At first, I found myself upset, because everything important to me that I knew and loved was on the other side of the world, and I could no longer hug my lola and lolo (grandparents) whenever I pleased. But as Iāve grown older here on the Isle of Man, my connection with the island has really grown. I understand the sacrifice my parents made in bringing me here, having to leave everything they knew to start fresh in a different country and give me a better life than they did growing up.
So Iām thankful for the memories I made in the Philippines back then and every time I go back to visit on holiday, but it helped me realise how big the world truly is and how little my problems must seem in the grand scheme of things. In a way, a Rolife set is similar to the world in which there are so many little things to add into it that make it so unique.
The Isle of Man as a Mini-World ![]()
If there was a place that I feel would make a fantastic Rolife kit, it would be The Great Laxey Wheel in Laxey, Isle of Man.
Laxey Wheel is impressive not only for the way the people of the Island have maintained the landmark since 1854, but itās so rich with history and was such a vital aspect of everyday life back then for the people on the island. Being the main waterwheel for the Isle of Man, pumping water from what were the Great Laxey Mines, this wheel was so important to so many people and had endured much tougher times than I have.
It helps me embrace the littler things. Staring at the wheel and comparing my height to it makes me feel small, but it also reminds me of the beauty of the island and the nature thatās been preserved. This has made me extremely proud of my connection to the Isle of Man and has taught me to embrace the Filipino and Manx sides of me.
This is why I believe Rolife kits are so precious - because they allow me to see into a different culture. Kits such as the cherry blossom tree set really feel full of soul and you can feel the effort that went into every little piece that makes it whole when assembling. Itās like a tiny little world that you can jump into while youāre building, and you get to keep it on display for others to see later and hopefully see the same thing you are. ![]()
The Scent of Home
In a quiet corner of Sha Tin, old Mrs. Leung sat at her tiny table every morning, sipping milk tea from a glass so thick it felt like armor against the world. The cha chaan teng buzzed around herāpineapple buns fresh from the oven, the clatter of porcelain, hurried aunties calling orders in Cantonese that mixed with English like milk swirling into strong black tea.
She was eighty-three now. Her children lived overseas. The city had changed: glass towers where markets once sprawled, MTR lines humming beneath streets she once walked slowly. But the taste of the bun, the steam on the windows, the way the uncle at the counter still remembered her orderāthese stayed.
One rainy afternoon, her granddaughter Emily arrived from London, jet-lagged and carrying a small wooden box. āRobotime,ā Emily said, smiling. āItās called Hong Kong Bites CafĆ©. I built the first one with you in mind.ā
Inside were laser-cut pieces: miniature red plastic stools, tiny bottles of condensed milk, even a working little fan and delicate cha chaan teng signage. They spent the weekend together at the old dining table, glue on fingers, laughter echoing as tiny pineapple buns took shape from paper and wood.
Each piece clicked into place like memory itselfāstubborn at first, then suddenly right. When the miniature cafĆ© was finished, Mrs. Leung placed it beside her real window overlooking the harbor. She switched on its warm light at dusk and felt, for the first time in years, that home had followed her no matter how far her family scattered.
Robotime didnāt just bring plastic and wood. It brought the scent of toasted bun, the chatter of a city that never sleeps, and the quiet joy of a granddaughter saying, without many words: I remember. And I carry it with me.
A memory that matters, built one careful piece at a time.
Growing up in Vancouver, one memory that has always stayed with me is a quiet afternoon I spent crafting with my grandmother at the kitchen table while it rained outside. She encouraged me to be creative with simple materials like colored paper, reminding me that it didnāt have to be perfect to be meaningful. That moment mattered because it taught me to enjoy the process of creating rather than worrying about mistakes, and it made me feel supported and confident. Even now, whenever I see the familiar rainy weather in Vancouver, I think about that time and how something small and simple can leave a lasting impact.
When I was young, I used to love walking at Stanley park, so I would turn this into a Robotime kit.

!) at Lempdes (close to Clermont-Ferrand) and my mum living in Noisiel (close to Paris).
Step 2:
My parents, after having left Cambodia and their very tiny studio in Paris where I was born, moved to Noisiel in a quiet suburb close to Paris. This place is very important for me and my family, especially since the death of my father when I was 7 years old. My mother had to raise five children while not working and not been in a relationship since. All of my sisters and brother left Noisiel and settled somewhere else for a long time, either myself my partner thirteen years ago in Clermont-Ferrand, two sisters live abroad in Australia and Hong Kong, and my brother and my last sister in Paris. But this house is still our little cocoon where we have grown, where we can meet all together with my mother. We are very close to her. Her house is the place where we can, as for the rest of the whole family abroad or not, all meet together and spend wonderful moments.
Mystery Reward ā Turn Your City into a Miniature World
I have left the suburb of Paris to live for thirteen years in Clermont-Ferrand in Auvergne with my partner, a region that I could just have barely placed on a map before in the middle of France. Since my arrival, I canāt even think living somewhere else. I live my second life here, gave birth to my son and got married with my partner of over twenty-six years. If I have to turn my city into a miniature world, I would love to represent the link which unites two different worlds, notably the city center of Clermont-Ferrand and the Nature in the same model. On the one hand, we can enjoy living in the vibrant town and admire its impressive CathĆ©drale-Notre-Dame-de-lāAssomption built with black volcanic rocks, which dominates the city center. And, on the other hand, we can enjoy hiking in beautiful green landscapes and breathing fresh air of the nature close to the Puy de DĆ“me, the highest and the oldest extinct volcano in the ChaĆ®ne des Puys.
And if such project proved to be unrealizable, a model representing our black gothic Cathedral built with volcanic rocks would be beautiful and could perfectly complete the cathedral collection of Rolife.
Thank you I really do love my life.
I was born in Hong Kong and my parents are also originally from there. Our family moved to Toronto when I was young. My heart is split between these two incredible cities and I feel a deep, close connection to both. Hong Kong, in particular, is world-famous for its dramatic skyscrapers and urban density. Toronto also has a beautiful skyline with CN Tower and Sky Dome. It will be amazing to see both Toronto and Hong Kongās iconic landscape as a future set from Robotime.

I have seen several windmill kits so a Robotime one would be amazing @Sofie_Vanderbeken
A golf cart would be an amazing model. It must have been fun to learn how to drive in one. @Zoe_Lau
Oh @Sasa . Thank you for sharing such lovely pics. They are beautiful!
@Tricia12 I am so happy to hear that you were able to leave Vietnam for better opportunites⦠and that you have succeeded in your studies. Well done, sweet girl.
I can totally understand your love for being in a small town. The town I grew up is no longer the small town it USED to be.
WOW! What a beautiful place you live in! That model seems to capture it perfectly. @Suzanne_Jones
Brisbane, the city is beautiful. I live about 70kms from the city now.
Itās so nice that your grandmother is able to visit you yearly . This is a lovely creation for a model. @Cozy.little.palette
