Happy day from Rottnest Island

Sorry not crafting related but thought I would let you know we have arrived on Rottnest Island and you could literally feel the normal day to day stresses drain away within minutes of stepping off the boat.

I have already had a quokka walk up to me while I was sitting outside the bakery.

We are currently waiting for our cabin to get cleaned and collect the keys and a mother quokka is checking out our luggage while her babe sleeps nearby. They are very friendly but you are not allowed to feed or touch them. If they walk up and touch you, that’s okay.

Here is mumma and her baby.

Quokkas are native only to Rottnest and a few smaller islands around Western Australia. They are a marsupial cousin to our famous kangaroos

The Island is only 19 square kilometers square so it is very small.

So the next 5 days will be biking around the island and wandering beaches. Unfortunately the max temp will only be 21 C but the sunshine and smell of the salt water is devine.

@Vangie Rottnest is not like the stunning tropical surrounds of Hawaii as rain often avoids all of Western Australia. It’s dry and all vegetation is whatever handles no rain, but hey, that’s most of Australia really., but any island holiday of just sheer relaxing joy.

I will share some photos once we get back.

I just have to survive being around young people as this is for my besties son’s 18th so you can imagine what shenanigans that will happen. He is the one next to me on the boat. And then are us adults who will be trying to survive amongst the younger partygoers.

Happy Crafting folks.
