👍 [Good Question]Power module not working [Dream Gift Factory]

Hi everyone,

I’m still at the wiring stage of my model and I’ve run into a problem with the power module.

I connected the Type-C cable to the black power box as shown in the instructions, but the main board doesn’t turn on at all.

There are no LEDs, no sound and no motor test — it looks like the power box is not sending any power to the PCB.

All the other connectors (LED2, LED3, Music, Motor) are correctly plugged in, but the power module doesn’t seem to activate the board.

Has anyone experienced this issue?

Thanks!

Hello, @alicef! Welcome to the community!
I haven’t built the Dream Gift Factory myself, so I’m not sure how to help you properly, but I’m sure @CustomerService can assist you. Hope you get it fixed soon!

Thank you so much for your reply!

I double-checked all the connections again, but I still can’t figure out where the issue might be.

So I really hope @CustomerService can help me understand what’s wrong.

Thanks again for the warm welcome!

Welcome to the community @alicef This might be a silly question, but did you briefly touch the iron spring? This is the on/off button, which you have to touch first before it will do anything. The electricity seems to be fine.

Hi Liset, thank you! Yes, I connected it with the USB-C cable and I also pressed the iron spring as you suggested, but it still doesn’t turn on. Any other idea on what I could try?

I would be absolutely sure that the power cord you are using works properly and fits properly. Some of these take USB C and some of them take a slightly larger one. I’ve had this issue before and sometimes it is the charger that it is plugged into. I hope that you can find your problem because this is an amazing build

I think the main has problem. If you have a power meter try testing it. Or you can ask @CustomerService, they will help you

This issue is likely caused by a malfunction of the circuit board. Please note that the EAB01 is not recommended to be used with fast-charging power adapters, as this may easily damage the motherboard.

We can arrange to send you a replacement set of electronic components so that you can try replacing them.

Welcome to the community @alicef . I hope customer service can help you with this and possible to send out replacement if it is faulty.

I know you said you touched the spring but it has to be soooooo light, any pressure and it wont really work, it needs to be a super light touch.

I hope you can get it working! Welcome to the community :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Welcome to the community! I’m so glad to see more people building the Dream Gift Factory, I’m up there assembling the top floor now and it’s a beautiful and exciting crafting journey. I hope you can solve the issue with the help you’re receiving! Gladly I haven’t had any problems with the electrical components so far, but sadly that also means I’m not sure where the problem can be.

Thanks Nita! I actually tried a few different cables and adapters just to be sure, but unfortunately it still doesn’t work.

Thanks so much for the tip! The first time I actually touched it super lightly but it didn’t work, so later I tried pressing it all the way down since I wasn’t sure how it was supposed to be done

Thats so unfortunate, im glad to see Robotime are sorting you a replacement! I hope it arrives quickly so you can contibue your build! :crossed_fingers:

I’m so sorry to hear that. I hope that your replacement works well so that you can finish this amazing model

Did you do a test at the start when it was all free and did it work then? I always test it before i start building

No, it’s just my second set so I didn’t think about that. So you do all the electrical connections before assembling? I will use this tip for the next times, thank you very much!!

Yeah i click them all in and test it. In the spaceshuttle manual it stated to do so.

Yeah, you should! Actually most of the kits with electronic components, as far as I know, prompt you to do so in the manual. It does prevent further issues :stuck_out_tongue: but it’s best to keep doing so as many times as you feel sure about.

For example I’m building my Dream Gift Factory now, and while the manual prompts you to test it a few times along the way, I’m pretty sure I’ve tested it like 20 times more than that  you’re never too cautious.
