Finally — A Way to Get Those Potted Plant Leaves to Stay

If you've built more than one Rolife DIY house kit, chances are you've encountered the potted plant element — and the sometimes frustration that comes with it. The leaves simply won't stay where they belong for me. I've tried the tape and at least 3 different glues, everything eventually fails or falls off.

I picked up the resin suggestion from someone in the community and just kind of figured out the rest as I went! The product is Let's Resin UV resin and I've been happy enough with my results that I wanted to share what worked for me. I'm currently building the A-Frame Cabin and made one today specifically to document the full process from start to finish so I could share.

What You'll Need

  • Your Rolife DIY house kit (wire is already included!)
  • Pliers
  • Let's Resin UV resin kit (comes with the light!)

The Process

  1. Cut your wires — half as many as you have leaves, and longer than the finished length shown in the instructions. You'll need that extra length to anchor everything in the pot.
  2. Use pliers to curl both ends of each wire. Don't skip this — it's what makes everything hold!
  3. Hold the wire flush on top of one leaf and apply a small amount of UV resin to cover the wire.
  4. Cure with your UV light for 20 seconds.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the second leaf on the other end of the wire.
  6. Fold the stem in half — and vary the fold point on each stem so your leaf heights are all different. The variation gives the plant a natural, full look.
  7. Feed the stems through the wood disc.
  8. Bend the bottom ends over to secure everything in the pot.
  9. Fluff your leaves to the desired shape.

Photos of each step are included above, along with a shot of the Let's Resin box so you can find the exact product — and yes, the light comes with it!

@Anje_Leonoza_Mira what kind of paper thing, do you mean like the little boxes we have to fold and make?

I already have a UV light so will look into this!
