If you’ve ever struggled with attaching those tiny paper flower stamens in a miniature kit, I think I found a better way and I’m honestly pretty excited about it!
In the past I’ve tried tape that came with a kit and regular craft glue, but tape is fiddly and glue takes too long to dry. The problem with glue is that the stamen shifts while you’re waiting for it to set, so you end up with flowers that are slightly off and it’s frustrating.
I recently picked up a box of pre-colored UV resin to experiment with on another part of my build, and it came with white. Since these are white flowers I thought it was the perfect time to try something new.
Here’s what I did. First I press the flower gently onto foam to give it a slight natural curve. Then I thread the stamen through the center and push it through to the depth I want.
Once I have it positioned just right, I add a tiny dot of UV resin to the back where the stamen meets the flower and cure it. Everything locks in place instantly, no shifting, no waiting, no frustration.
I’m so much happier with how these flowers look compared to my previous attempts. That slight curve from the foam pressing makes them look so much more realistic too. I even use a little clear resin to lock these flowers in the pot.
One more thing worth mentioning because it’s just delightful: the little flower pot in this section appears to be a small wooden bead. It is tiny and absolutely perfect for the scale of the build.
If you’ve been struggling with paper flowers in your own kits, I really recommend giving UV resin a try for this step!
Okay. As a person who’s recently built his first ever Miniature House, who’s recently had his first-and-only encounter with the paper flowers of the devil, and who’s absolutely hated them…
I absolutely love this post and appreciate you for it. Gosh.
You’ll be hearing from me as soon as one my future kits come with paper flower to make. And I’ll remember this. And you. OMG.
thank you so much! I really hope you enjoy the process — UV resin is so satisfying once you get the hang of it. Can’t wait to see how your little flowers turn out!
Thank you for this handful tip. Does the UV resin has strong smell? I haven’t use it so I have no idea and if the chemical is okay to touch your bare hands by accident let’s say.
@serenebliss_23
This really depends on the brand you get. The Lets Resin one I have doesn’t smell bad, and I avoid strong smells like the plague! Its weirdly sticky if you get it on you, and I have often lol, like sugar syrup, and I use 91% alcohol to clean it up (water wont work) I also got these little silicone mats they advertise for doing nail art, thats the pink things in the background of the photos, to do my work on as they wipe up with alcohol super easy.
