👍 [ Beginner Tips] Sakura Tree House tips JeanneL

some things I learned while working on this kit:

  1. Starting on page 2 I did not truly understand what they were saying to do with the flowers and branches. I discovered that the white lines on the blossums were actually to be lined up with the branches. those white lines were outlines.
  2. Glue works better than the orange or white stickers.
  3. lots of things are fragile in this kit. You may choose to glue more than just snap together! I still find the stairs to be shaky.
  4. page 19, that is a pulley, not a dog!
  5. page 20, the octagonal house is a challenge to put on. Somehow I ended up needing to repair the gate during the process.
  6. Make sure you measure the wire on page 18-19. You need 20mm on each end.
  7. Pay close attention when building the shed on page 40. It is easy to reverse the walls.
  8. Enjoy! tgis is a beautiful kit and I had fun building this! I did create a video on completion.

I do agree! Sometimes glue is just quicker and more convenient than using the stickers provided.

I shall keep the dog pulley in mind if and when I get this kit crossed off my Wishlist hahahah :laughing:

It looks great. I find that sanding and waxing the tabs to be inserted always helps if I am having a hard time getting something in. Hope this helps in the future

What glue works the best for you on these builds?

These tips are so helpful, thank you for sharing them, @jeanneL! This kit has so many little details. Love seeing your experience and enthusiasm!

Wonderful. Thank for share your tips

You did a great job, and thank you for the tips!! :heart: What do you think you’re going to build next? :eyes::eyes:

Great photos!

I’ve glued a few walls inside out before.

Seriously sometimes you just need to laugh at yourself!

Thanks a lot for the tips! I’m planning on building this for spring (it’s almost winter here) so I’ll be sure to have all of this in mind, sounds very helpful :smiley:

Yeah I do find glue is useful in this build even though I used a lot of double sided tape. my stairs was shaky too.

@Nita_Davis
I do sand but I havent waxed anything yet but that is a good idea. I think when we paint, it will swell so to speak.

@April_Parks
I mostly used Aleene’s tacky glue. I think on a few parts I used E 6000 and on 1 hidden part I did use super glue but I found super glue makes a mess.

Yes it does, but I thought you didn’t paint anything on this one? Either way, if it doesn’t go in easily…rather than forcing it, sand and wax to avoid breakage.

@SunnyCee I am glad to hear I am not alone. Good thing I hadnt glued. I had 2 walls reversed and upside down. I didnt realize until I was trying to attach. That is when I discovered my error.

I almost wish @Tricia12 that they put like a little spacer between the steps where they attach. They are really cute and I like them but wish they were steadier.
