Day 3 (July 29): Wednesday
No progress on the build today because I was busy helping one of my real estate clients. Even though I couldn’t work on the typewriter, I was already looking forward to getting back to it.
Day 4 (July 30): Thursday
This was, by far, the most challenging day of the build. While working on the typewriter, one of the wires slipped out of its groove. I couldn’t continue assembling until it was back in place, which meant I had to disassemble part of the mechanism all over again.
Whew… what a test of patience! It took me nearly four hours to get that tiny wire back where it belonged. The engineering behind the back mechanism of this typewriter is absolutely incredible. It was frustrating at times, but seeing everything come back together made it all worthwhile.
Day 5 (July 31): Friday
This morning, I reassembled all the parts I had taken apart yesterday, and I’m happy to say that everything appears to be working again! What a relief after spending hours troubleshooting the mechanism. Everything is looking good so far!
I had to pause my build for now because it’s time for my afternoon pickleball games.

One thing I’ve learned is that you really have to follow the instructions step by step. If you miss even a small detail, the mechanism may not work correctly. This isn’t just a model—it’s a beautifully engineered machine that rewards patience, precision, and careful attention to every step.

I don’t think anyone had shown the underside before! This kit is fascinating; I have a lot of other projects on the go, otherwise I’d start it right away.

Ya know normally people do t like to see how the sausage is made, as the saying goes lol. But it’s fascinating that in this community we get so excited for these kinds of updates!! I love it!
