The choo choo is done. I think anyways. This one took longer than I anticipated. The edge coloring man, killed me. Once you start how do you stop? But it was fun. More of a challenge than expected.
The scene depicts an old time steam or coal train at a stop. No passengers or engineer to see but it evokes such a nice nostalgia for this mode of transportation. Were people used to dress up to travel. Wheee it was considered an adventure in itself.
The panels are fairly all over the place. If you saw my unboxing video you saw the difference in panel thickness on some parts. But it makes sense in the end. Gotta trust the process! While some parts were difficult to insert. Others were fairly easy. The instructions weren’t bad. There was some confusion on the layout and placement of some components to the build. But it wasn’t bad. It came together rather easily.
Modifications
I did a lot of edge painting as I just didn’t feel right with the color variations from black to wood or red to wood. So I made the decision to just follow the color scheme of the parts
I also used some license in using a metallic marker. Particularly gold and silver. As the highlights of the train were already gold, I decided to accent some more on handles, steps etc. the silver was used as the same and I made a patina of some of the mechanical parts on the train that I knew would be normally not so shiny. The chairs on the passenger cabin which you can’t see really, I also highlighted with gold trim.
I added red to the lights and some white to the gauges in the main engine compartment. Which of course you can’t see lol but as we all know the satisfaction comes from the builder knowing it’s there right ?

Ok. Then I finally got my 3d printer kinda working and added a passenger in the back Painted with a acrylic paint and glued that bad boy down. I can’t do faces so now looking at him… dude is kinda creepy standing all alone there… Michael myers vibes, ..

As for the platform itself I only added some flowers on the floor. But I think it could use a hanging basket or a planter. Both of which I dont have the materials or knowledge to make on my own. Oh wait.. I have a 3d printer now… ugh. Use your tools David… oh well maybe later.
This will be gifted to our grandson who currently has a fascination with trains. Being special needs he can just sit there and watch the train go by his house and feel total contentment. It’s pretty cool and I hope he likes it.
Oh! I also added some smoke/steam coming out of the smoke stack. Being empty just wasn’t going to cut it for me. I took some cotton and air brushed a nice dark grey color to it.
Ok I’ve rambled enough. Thanks for reading my nonsense and I hope your weekend was fantastic!! Thanks @Robotime !!
