[Challenge & Achievement] Catastrophic event on the harp

Well… it appears that I may be doing the ‘one step forward and three steps’ back dance on this one. I did a little more of the detail painting today after work and then I did a test run before installing other parts. It appears that one of the little tongue pieces inside that causes the strings to move is taking it the wrong direction making it strike the tall column and it makes it stick. One of those pieces may have been installed the wrong way but I’m not quite sure. I broke it back down and now I have to rebuild all of one side of the gears. Pieces were falling out everywhere. Today was not a good day in the modeling world.:sob:

@Nita_Davis I have confidence that you’ll figure out it! You’re so good at this!

It’s a shame to hear that.

Ugh I hate when this happens with a kit! I hope it’s not too hard and you can easily fix it! Please keep us updated. I’m hoping for the best for you!

:scream: take a good rest or short break… have a pieces of cake :shortcake: and a cup of milk :glass_of_milk:… then~ come back again…

It will have to be dealt with tomorrow after work…I just can’t wrap my head around it…(what could be wrong)…I followed directions to the T. I did see one other persons harp on ROKR page and their strings didn’t move. I am waiting to hear back if they just removed those tiny tong pieces…because I really wouldn’t care if my strings don’t move. I do want it to be able to play the music, though.

I have had that happen and also while taking it apart breaking pieces causing more stress and delay….

Heres to you being able to figure the issue out! Didnt @Terranoir123 finish his? I cannot remember.

No, he has not…or at least not that I have seen. He always adds so many bells and whistles :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: that it will be a while. @jeanneL

Ugh, that sucks! I also did a little disassembling in my build today because I decided I wanted to change something and had to pull the parts out to paint! Definitely not as much disassembling as you’ve had to do, hopefully you can get it all fixed and put back together!

So heartbreaking…as I thought I was nearing the finish line. @Suzanne_Jones . I think we’ve all been there at least once.

Oh yeah and as you know, just this weekend

Thanks @Tkaplan for being my amazing cheerleader. This was truly a punch to the gut. I will deal with it tomorrow after work.

What? @jeanneL . I am a bit confused.

My light strip that was working and as I put the front wall on and plugged in, it did not. As I disassembled the back and the merry-go-round to test, it just broke off. In the whole process I then had to take the merry-go-round off and will need to remove the light as best I can and replace. That whole piece had already been taken apart one other time. It is vey challenging to work with. I am afraid I may need to remove more walls to get it together.

Oh no. What a shame you gotta rebuild that. Even though it will take a bit more time but I’m sure you will be able to pull it all together nicely.

Oh no, that tongue piece causing the strings to stick sounds really frustrating, especially after detailed painting and testing. Keep going, the rebuild is part of the journey and your patience will pay off with a beautifully working harp. We believe in your craftsmanship and can’t wait to see the final result!

OH!!! Okay, I get it…We both just had a crappy weekend. OOPS, my brain is not functioning trying to think about what could be the problem. I just need to go to bed…and sleep on it.
