So… here we are at day 7 on the Retro dressing box. This was a mystery prize I received several months ago. I thought that this would be a very easy build but it is proving me wrong. I have made a lot of changes and tried a lot of different things. I bought markers that were too thick and didn’t look good so I opted for coloring in the details which also did not look good to me. I eventually ended up flipping the pieces over because this is pretty much a symmetrical model and all of the pieces can be interchanged to the back side. I chose to go with the blue that everybody loved but I sponged on gold instead of doing the intricate details. I hope to finish this one up tomorrow. It has certainly been a struggle but I’ve enjoyed every minute of it

The sponge accents look really good, I think I almost like it more than the original pattern!
It’s a really cool kit…but a tough one to build and figure out layers and what will show, if painting. Since this was a mystery gift, I think it may be one that has been discontinued? I hope that you can receive one as well in the future.

The sponged on gold looks really good so I think you’ve done a great job! It’s rather fitting for an Asian jewellery box! Gold is always a must have colour.
