[Challenge & Achievement] #20 TW021 Lilac - Small but challenging flower!

I love purple and flowers which is why I decided to build this cute kit. But despite its size, it turned out to be quite challenging to assemble. Compared to this, the Red Camellia was definitely much easier.

The wooden pieces were quite brittle and unfortunately, I broke more than 10 parts while working on this flower including 3 of the 6 available feet. I also made a mistake early on by gluing some pieces too soon, which caused a few parts to be misaligned. I had to borrow my husband’s adhesive remover to fix it, it helped, but it was still a tedious process.

Even when carefully snapping the pieces into place, I ended up breaking a few more along the way. I’m not sure if it’s just me, but I found this kit particularly difficult to build. Still, despite all the challenges, I still love how it turned out.

You chose a difficult 2nd flower. I have not built the lilac yet but I heard how difficult it was to build. So congratulations on completing your Lilac despite the challenges. It looks beautiful

It turned out really beautiful. The color is just perfect! And it really is a tough build compared with the camellia, but you made it work so well in the end, congrats!!

The lilac is definitely a bit tricky to do. Sand and wax can always help instead of trying to force a part that won’t fit.

It was extremely difficult for me and I broke many pieces. I wanted to collect all the flowers so I ended up buying a second one and it was still just as hard! You are not alone! It looks beautiful, you did a great job!

@Nita_Davis I’ve built a lot of kits but never used wax even once. Thank you for this tip. I need to learn how to use it now. This will surely help me in building future kits too :slightly_smiling_face:

Oh wow. I rarely ever break a piece. This will be a lifesaver for you. @Pola

I love both the flowers that you’ve made. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: I think lilac is somewhat difficult to build from what I’m seeing since I haven’t build the flower and it has many small pieces to connect.

@Tricia12 they are! It makes me want to have more. They look pretty once done :slightly_smiling_face:

@serenebliss_23 the lilac is a harder build compared to the red camellia. Hopefully the sunflower and the others won’t be this hard as I am planning to collect them all and more. They look so pretty :sunflower::cherry_blossom::rose:
