Just completed the Century Post Office kit! Since my husband works for USPS, I couldn’t resist adding a personal touch - I used my 3D printer to create a blue USPS mailbox to replace the standard red mailbox that comes with the kit.
I found the STL file online and it printed perfectly. The blue USPS mailbox feels so much more authentic for our household! I’ve included photos showing both the original red mailbox and my custom blue one for comparison.
Has anyone else customized their kits with 3D printed pieces? Would love to hear what you’ve made!
Your customisation is just perfect. ![]()
nice customize.
I love your customization on this model. I don’t know how to do the type of stuff you did but I’ve customized many by taking screenshots or photos and then printing them out as photos. Here is my latest one. In this link, you will see another link that takes you to the whole cabin full of fishing pics. One last addition for my fishing lodge
I also enjoy personalizing my miniatures most of the time. In this kit, the red mailbox looks much more eye-catching. The blue USPS mailbox stays more in the background; if the post office itself were a different color instead of green, it might have stood out more. I’ve never used a 3D printer and don’t have any experience with it, but I think it could be a real lifesaver for many miniatures. ![]()

Wow that’s brilliant and an extra personal touch.
My local library has 3D printing services so maybe one day I’ll give it a go!
The mailbox is so cool!
I’ve not tried to print on 3D printer yet but I would love to if I’m given a chance since I can’t afford the printer yet.
That’s such a great idea, and what a perfect personal touch! ![]()
The blue USPS mailbox fits the Century Post Office so well and makes it feel even more authentic, especially with your husband working for USPS. The 3D-printed swap looks fantastic. Now you’ve got me thinking about custom prints for future builds too! ![]()
That USPS mailbox looks so nice with the post office. You gave it your own personal touch. I love it ![]()
the blue for the win! I do not have a 3d printer but am seeing alot of potential!
How cool. I wish i had a 3 d printer amd could print out kits myself.
Such a cool way to customize it. I have to try 3D printer one day ![]()
That is such a clever and personal touch!
Using a 3D printer to make it fit perfectly shows some serious dedication. It really makes the Century Post Office feel like it belongs in your home. We’d love to see more of your customizations! A lot of community members have started experimenting with 3D printed parts, from tiny furniture to miniature signs. Your blue mailbox might inspire others to try their own creative tweaks too ![]()
