After completing my A-frame cabin, ( Completion of my A-frame Cabin (aka Fishing lodge)) that I transformed into a fishing lodge, I had one last little brainstorm. It needed some fishing poles and a rod holder. I knew exactly where I wanted to place it, but HOW? After a bit of searching through all of my “stuff”, I came across the craft sticks that I knew could be used for the holder. Sewing eyelets turned into the reel and the hooks became rod holders for the top. I used cocktail picks that I painted black for the rods. I made individual guides out of floral wire. The next step was to add the eyelets near the bottom for the reel. I then wrapped the stick with some thin black twine and glued and wrapped the guides as I went. I took my fishing line and tied it to a tiny nut, strung it through the guides and added a hook at the end. I also had tiny yellow beads for bobbers. Next brainstorm…a fishing net. I found that the netting from a bath loofah had the perfect mesh netting for this project. It was impossible to make it flat so that I could work with it…and NO, you cannot iron it. Ask me how I know this…
What a mess. I used a half square of single-ply toilet paper and laid if flat. I then used double-sided sticky tape that I put along one edge. I laid my piece of floral wire there and folded it over. Next, I shaped it into an oval hoop and attached it to my cockstail pick. I squished the end together and poured some Elmers glue inside. Voila’…about 8 hours later, I had two poles and a net. ![]()
Absolutely stunning
You’ve done a great job, super creative! This is the perfect detail for this build.
Wow!
Those turned out really good! I admire your ability to have a vision and make it come to life!
Wow. So nice idea
They’re perfect! Now you’re fishing lodge looks complete. You did such an amazing job on your cabin @Nita_Davis
Thank you so much. This took me a lot longer than I thought and I wish I had some thinner black thread to go around the fishing pole because they are so fat now but all in all I’m pretty happy with it @Liset
That looks fantastic @Nita_Davis. I love little customised details that make our build personal and unique. Sounds like like it was a bit of an adventure with the net ![]()

super creative! i love your customization and real life vibes !!! amazing job
Your idea is very brilliant and creative. You did great on the fishing lodge. ![]()
@Nita_Davis I love your work! So creative. I wish my brain worked like that. Great job!
Thanks so much @Jo_Zanella . Yes, I have had my fair share of mishaps while trying to "create’ something new. I once mixed a bit of tonic water with some whitening powder detergent and the granules woudn’t melt to mix in properly. I stuck it in the microwave and within 2 seconds, there were flashes of light /arcing that I noticed. Thankfully, I never walked away from the microwave or I might be homeless now. I was trying to make something glow a bit brighter white…LOL! Apparently, quinine does not work well with whitening powders.
lol that is crazy @Nita_Davis ! I never would have thought it would arc either! Good to know
.
I often redo things if I’m not happy. When someone sees something ‘perfect’ I make it often comes with loads of trial and error. That’s the fun in it ![]()

Thank you so much @Orangesareus . The cabin was definitely a fun one to do.
That is good to know! I will add on my wishlist!!!
I couldn’t recall if you had this one when you spun the wheel last because there were so many…LOL! Christmas was good to you!
Thanks so much @Atropex . Once an idea pops into my head, there’s no turning back…LOL!
I don’t have this one yet… yet!!! I will check out Robotime online ![]()
That’s honestly amazing!
I still have trouble visualising how each individual part comes together to form the poles and net, but that’s probably because they turn out so realistic. ![]()
I love everything, @Nita_Davis! Every single detail is chef’s kiss.
That net story made me laugh (RIP loofah
), but the result is incredible and fits the fishing lodge perfectly. It really feels like the final touch that brings the whole scene to life. Totally worth those 8 hours, amazing work!
THanks so much @JDisaduck . There was definitely some work involved there…but they are thicker than what I would’ve liked.
