I wanted to try one of these paint-by-number sets for a while. I was not sure if it was legitimate or if it is just a gimmick.
Overall I think it is a good craft to try. The paint was good quality. No colors were dried out. The colors layered well, so I could easily paint over mistakes.
After I finished all the numbers I was able to go back over spots that looked ruff. The mosaic design was forgiving. It did not matter if I put a color in the wrong spot.
The only con of paint-by-numbers is that it takes a VERY long time! There was 22 colors. Each color took about an hour to find every spot.
So what do you think? Have you ever tried a paint-by-number set? Would you ever want to? Would you rather paint free hand? If you have, I would love to see what you created.
I’ve actually never tried a paint-by-number set before — mostly because painting and colors aren’t really my strong suit! But seeing your result makes me want to give it a try; it looks absolutely beautiful.
Thank you. I am really happy with the results. I love all the vibrant colors. I hung it up in my room. It makes a nice wall hanger.
I’m not an expert painter at all. I should have added that in my review. I have never done any other paintings. It is possible for beginners. Only thing you really need is a lot of time and determination.
Oh dear… I have one that I started in May of 2024. I had a very short stint on a house/dogsitting job so I didn’t want to load up all of my modeling stuff. Instead, I bought one of those. It is maybe halfway done? I just can’t bring myself to go back to it. Yours is looking very nice
I started one, and would probably like it if I didn’t have to do a second coat on everything to cover the numbers and lines fully… too tedious for me, I want to do one coat and done lol
I bought it off amazon. I probably overpaid for it at 20$. It was kind of an impulse buy. Fast shipping. Had no brand name that I could see. Only number on it is DD013.
I bought a different one from Ali express for 6$ and it looks to almost be better quality. The brushed, paint and canvas seem better.
Paint-by-number requires a TON of patience. It wasn’t a bad time, though. The paint was easy to work with. It wasn’t too messy. It wasn’t stressful at all.
I did PBN years ago. Yours is looking very good. Yes, finding all the numbers does take time. Three years ago started taking oil painting classes and totally enjoy creating frameable works of art. Hardest part is converting from a photo to my version. However once started it’s pure joy to finish a piece by the third week.
Your work is beautiful! I tried doing this but I never got to finish it and now I don’t know where I left it. It is a relaxing activity but as you said it does take lots of time.
