Honestly, I’ve been so excited to get started, and this time I’m trying things I probably wouldn’t have dared before, like experimenting to make the furniture look older.
For that, I used acrylic paint and added little touches here and there. I also tried out some colored pencils (you can see them in the next photo) that create metallic effects, chipping, and aging. It’s my first time using them, and I really like the results!!
So far, this is just day one! I’ve already been looking through photos I could use, and I’m still thinking about how to modify the dress, possibly by crocheting it. What do you think?
Let’s see if I can work on it a bit more this weekend!
Thank you so much, @Nita_Davis!!! I’m really enjoying experimenting, but I’m still a bit afraid of messing things up, so there are some things I don’t try yet
So cute! I love the weathered look! A crochet dress might be cute! it is a seamstress room though so i guess it depends if you want it to be a sewing room or a crafting room! I cant wait to see what you do with the rest of it! And im glad you found some time to start!
Yes! But I know that with colors or the material, the result can really change depending on the wood. Sometimes I test on the bottom parts of the furniture first
Thank you so much, @Liset! If my husband could help, I’d ask him to sew one like my grandmother’s dress, but since I have to manage on my own, I think I’ll try crocheting it and see how it turns out
Thank you so much! You’re totally right, it’s a seamstress room, so I’ll have to see if I keep it that way or give it more of a crafty twist. I’m really happy I could finally start it, and I’ll definitely share the progress!
Do you have any special clothes you could cut up to make the dress? I have some really old fabric that my mum made a dress for me when i was a baby out of that i might use for it
Hmmmm, I do have some fabrics at home, but none that are really special or with a vintage touch. For the crochet dress, though, I have some yarn she gave me recently. Since her arm isn’t well, she says she can’t sew anymore and passed them on to me
That’s really interesting! I’ll keep that idea in mind for a future video or some photos. It sounds like something you’d definitely enjoy! With wood it can be a bit trickier to make the effects stand out, but using markers along with paint is such a smart move (at least, for me ).
I am a big crocheter and i thought i might make a crochet room with a wall cube shelf full of different yarn balls
Thats sad she isnt able to sew anymore, you know as i get older one of the things i worry about most is using the ability to be able to craft not the ability to cook for myself to keep myself alive crafting is so important in our lives!
That would be so cool! You have to show us pictures of it! And yes, I feel the same. As I get older, I really don’t want to lose the ability to do crafts, sew, read… It’s honestly one of my biggest fears
