It’s coming together so nicely. I haven’t tried using alcohol markers yet. Are they much better to use on wood than acrylic ones?
I don’t think I’ve seen this one before, but I love it! So hobbity! It’s looking great. I think your use of the alcohol markers was a great, subtle choice.
You have to be careful with using them on wood. The alcohol colouring can bleed alo g the grain of the wood and using them on edges tends to make the colour really really dark, especially on laser cut burn edges. You have to sand the edges to get all of the laser burn off to get any colour to show. My use was to hide the sanding of the sprues. A light brown did this and came out dark matching the colouring used on the front of the pieces.
Wow. It seems it really requires a lot of patience. I agree that it is beautiful and you did well!
I really love hobbit houses. This kit is one that I would love to do some day but Anavrin aren’t the cheapest to buy unfortunately.
They certainly aren’t. This was a gift to myself from my tax return ![]()
It’s always great when you get a good tax return. You’ve just reminded me that I have to organise to get our tax returns done.
Ugh…I hate doing tax returns. Wishing you much luck in doing so. @Suzanne_Jones
Whispering Hollow is looking absolutely beautiful! I love how you used alcohol markers to keep the natural wood look, and it sounds like this build has been such a joy from start to finish.
That’s why we have an accountant ha ha
I just submitted mine..
Begins scheming
Wow that is really nice @chamelionboy! I use a stain marker from Minwax on my edges that i want to still look wooden. Can’t wait to see your finished build!
Hi Peter, you can see it completed in my other post linked below.
Wow, the wiring is amazing! The details are beautiful.
They certainly are. It’s now ‘my precious’.
