Treasure tray part 1

This treasure tray is turning out to be a ton of fun. The colors I chose, maybe not so much. Everything is taking two to three coats and if I make a boo boo with yellow on to red or red on to Yellow, that entails more coats. Regardless, I am loving the process and I can’t wait to use it. With the humidity we are having, my coats of lacquer are taking forever to dry so I have to deal with that but I think that I am about 90% done with the painting. I haven’t decided yet if I want to paint the piece on the back side with all of the pictures since it will never ever ever be seen by anybody.

I’m digging it. You keep it up and go make some magic happen. If you’re the only one who will see it. I say do what ya want. Personally I say put some gang tags or some salacious graffiti on the back. :+1:t6:

Nice work @Nita_Davis the colors are coming out nicely!

Thanks so much. I wish the piece was one that I could ‘reverse’ and do the backside as I wanted…but I can’t. I will probably just spray it white…and I know that the pics will still show up. IF (someday) I am EXTREMELY bored, maybe I will detail it. I honestly can’t see that happening though. @Grey74

the colors are amazing

I was wondering which color palette you’d go for after the last post. This is such nice paint work. It is definitely looking vibrant

Wow, it looks great so far! The colors are so vibrant. I only had to do one coat of my varnish but it still took forever because it’s so easy to mess up the application. If you added just a little bit too much in one area, it would have a different sheen. It legitimately drove me crazy.

Looking great! I really like how vibrant the colors you chose are—they will really make the whole piece stand out! Looking forward to your next update :slightly_smiling_face:

This is looking wonderful. I love the colours you’ve chosen. There are a lot of fun.

Thanks so much @Tricia12 The stark difference in colors makes it tough to do…but I am happy with my choices.

I’m looking forward to your completed build.

@Nita_Davis its looking great !

But you will see the back side…

You are so very welcome. I just added another comment about back side LOL

It sounds like you’re really enjoying the process despite the extra coats and slow drying time! The color combination may be testing your patience, but I think all that work will make the finished Treasure Tray feel even more special. And honestly, I probably wouldn’t bother painting the back either if no one will ever see it! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: :heart:
