The cowboys after stealing the treasure from the train depot, have been cornered! Taking refuge in the ruins of an old church in the desert, they fight the posse out to recover the stolen goods.
The cowboys mistakenly created a fire that led the posse directly to them! It’s a fight to the death and winner takes all.
Two weeks of work, and three months of planning it’s finally done! I’m proud of how this turned out. Let’s break down the process!
I try to use materials I already have as I believe dioramas shouldn’t be expensive. Cardboard I had from a box that held a book shelf helped to create the image into reality. I cut the pieces into manageable parts. I didn’t want to make a huge scale of a scene, as it wouldn’t make sense.
I laid it out, hot glued the pieces down and then textured it using drywall putty. Putting it on by hand allows for texture and intricate small details that I wanted.
This included the church on a hill with the advantage of the bad guys looking down.
I painted it as a base of desert ground. Yes. It did look like a peanut butter cake. Thanks to everyone who pointed that out 
I knew what I wanted it to end up like and knew the base color was just a start. I then painted the shades using an air gun to give shading and depth to nooks and crannies that I wanted to emphasize
Then I sprayed glue all over it and covered it with sand. nice and messy!!
I shook it all off and allowed it to dry while worked on the miniatures! I detailed the process already so won’t go into it but wanted to say I think this time it was enjoyable!! The amount of patience, focus and care it needed helps me stay determined to get it right. I love how they turned out!
Next was the church. I 3d printed the ruins before my printer took a long sleep and died on me. Yeah moment of silence for this please. ……..

I primed it and air brushed the colors to match a burned out ruined stone building. I’m happy how it eventually turned out.
Then began the process of assembling! The fun part!! I hot glued the main parts down, added some cactus (cacti? Cactuses??) that I highlighted with an airbrush and added the dudes strategically where I thought made sense. I then added the other terrain items, tumbleweed, logs, moss and sporadically placed greenery and desert flowers.
I added a rusted out and broken fence as I felt it added some depth to the ruined scene.
The story I created wouldn’t make sense without a fire. Cause duh.. cowboys make campfires! Cut some bass wood, stained them and added different colors to pile up and added some cotton smoke on top!
I made a treasure box made from bass wood, stained and glued and added some gold beads and jewels on top behind the cowboys as they defend it.
It’s gonna be a hard take for the posse to bring these outlaws to justice!! If you have read this far , thank you. From the bottom of my heart to you all who have supported me on my creative outlet. As a reward. Here are the pictures of it all finished!
In total the amount i spent on this: $5 for the cowboys, $3 for the cactuses on clearance at the store. 2$ for the fence and flowers, also on clearance. Yep. On the cheap!! Everything else I had and or found outside in the yard lol
I love that you made almost everything from materials you already had, because I’m spending to much money on things I need to customize
