Hello all, I have a question for those who painted parts of their space shuttle build. Did you paint them before assembling the pieces or did you wait till it was together to do the painting? This kit keeps staring at me and I think I finally have the courage to give it a try. Any other tips for this kit would be greatly appreciated also.

My preference is to paint the pieces while they’re still in the board. You have better access and don’t have to worry about knocking something off kilter or getting paint where you don’t want it. Have fun! This is a really fun build!
(Make sure to follow the directions exactly. Shortcuts mess thing up toward the end of the build.)

I do most of my painting while they are still on the board. I find that it is much easier to get the tiny details when it is on a flat surface. I will paint all of the edges as I go. If you are using white or yellow, I have found that Snow White and pale daffodil will almost cover in one coat. They are both Apple Barrel acrylic colors available at Walmart

That pale daffodil is amazing compared to just yellow. The coverage is phenomenal. I hope you do have them. If not, they are well worth the trip to Walmart in order to save you hours of painting.. LOL

You may find after painting that things are a little tight fitting. That is ok. Gently try and if so, sand a tiny bit and wax if needed. This will keep it from being forced and possibly breaking.
I have not done this particular kit but have done many many others and painted! I found this to be most helpful! Go for it! We are all here to help!

I haven’t colored anything for the space shuttle. But I did for other kits and I mostly painted them when they were still in the board. It’s easier to do it that way without having to worry that you paint a part that you don’t want colored or to color the table

I did this one and i Used markers! I didnt know i wanted it painted untill half way done…it was a huge regret! I highly recommend colouring before crafting
